Captain Kangaroo
Fun game to watch last night.CMU is a bunch of flopping, whiny crybabies. "Waa waa waaa, my player fell down...go to the monitor!" Would be be better with Tree, or without him? Seems like, "without."Nice job by Dambrot this season. He's getting the most out of his talent. 1981 grad
It is weird looking at Ohio University being winless in the MAC when only 3 years ago they went to the sweet 16 and were a jump shot away from defeating No. 1 ranked North Carolina. (And we were a Brien Walsh jump shot from beating OU in the MAC finals)Since then John Groce moved on to the fighting Illinois, Jim Christian then takes over and stays for 2 years and moves to Boston College.Ohio University is on their 3rd coach in 4 years. Not a recipe for success. Makes me appreciate the stability we have in our program with KD. He certainly has done a great job this year with all the turmoil in our program with Harney, Tree and Alex.
zipnetter55
Looking over our remaining schedule,I can't see us finishing any Attendance was worse than 21-10 or 22-9(barring injuries) We have already played the best in the west and now we get to play the rest of the west with the exception of return games vs Toledo and Western. All the remaining games vs the east appear winnable-Buffalo at home and Cant at home could be tough, but certainly we will be favored in both. I fully agree- a remarkable job by KD. . I have been posting for the past 3 weeks that they need to find a way to get Reggie involved in the offense. Finally happened- shows what is possible if you have him moving around instead of just standing in the corner-it also helps when you have players who can drive and dish,as this frees up the shooters(see Deji and Robo). Reggie hit on at least 1 mid-range jumper as well as a putback and a dunk on a beautiful pass. Give him some meaningful minutes and he will give you scoring which is badly needed by this team. Still too much dribbling and eating up the clock so we are often forced to settle for a last second shot. MORE PASSING needed. Scary how good we might be if Big Dog ever got in basketball shape Attendance was somewhat better and the crowd was more into the game, especially the last 5 minutes. Still no concessions on the second floor-anyone know why?.
Dave in Green
... I have been posting for the past 3 weeks that they need to find a way to get Reggie involved in the offense. ... Good call! Reggie had a great HS career and came to the Zips with a high rating. He did a lot more than just shoot 3s last night. Whatever lit his fuse needs to be repeated. Announced attendance was 3,513, not terrible but certainly less than this team deserves. If they can just put together a winning streak and create a little more buzz, maybe we can get closer to filling the JAR at more games. Everyone tell all your friends what they're missing. Dave in Green
Upset of the night has to be Can't (4-1) over Toledo (2-3) as NIU (2-3) over the Zips (3-2) in DeKalb is just no longer a surprise. Dave in Green
Can't was at home and favored. ...Can't was likely favored at home because recently they've been over-performing and Toledo has been under-performing. I still consider it to be an upset because Toledo has more talent and is more likely to prevail as the season goes on. Having said that, Can't can no longer be taken lightly. In fact, for the Zips, no MAC team can be taken lightly, even cellar dwellers OU and EMU.

Ken+ was favored to win at home against Toledo and did, no upset. Now in your mind, it may be, but of course in your mind Al Gore might be the 43rd president of the United States. NIU upset the Zips because Akron was favored. In my mind, with a 7 game road losing streak...eight seemed pretty likely. Nice time to check out the money line.

Dave in Green
My life doesn't revolve around bookies. In this case they called the Can't-Toledo game right and I called the Zips-NIU game right. But since my definition of upset upsets some, I'll refrain from using the word in future posts and everyone can continue to rely on their favorite bookie for that part of the results. Dave in Green
Pick your own upsets or go with the bookies -- your choice. I found it interesting that OU beat UB at the buzzer in Athens and UT struggled to edge BGSU in Toledo. When it was all over, Can't remains the only MAC team without at least 2 losses and EMU the only team without at least 2 wins. Looks like the MAC is wide open, especially considering that Can't has a lot of tough away games coming up after Tuesday.Zips 71, WMU 69Can't 63, BSU 52OU 63, UB 61UT 71, BGSU 67CMU 65, EMU 51MU 60, NIU 55EASTCan't 5-1Zips 4-2BGSU 4-2UB 3-3OU 2-4MU 2-4WESTWMU 4-2CMU 4-2UT 3-3BSU 2-4NIU 2-4EMU 1-5Tuesday's matchups include:2-4 BSU @ 4-2 Zips4-2 CMU @ 5-1 Can't4-2 WMU @ 3-3 UB2-4 NIU @ 4-2 BGSU2-4 MU @ 3-3 UT2-4 OU @ 1-5 EMU
Dr Z
Pick your own upsets or go with the bookies -- your choice. Realize both and you'll discover moneyline 101 young Skywalker. Hint, KD is the goose that laid the golden egg, but there are other great opportunities in the Mac yearly. Bobcats beat UB on last second Ndour slam dunk featured on Sports Center this morning. Athens goes crazy as Maurice Ndour scored a career-high 31 points, including the game-winning dunk with 0.6 seconds to play, and Ohio beat Buffalo 63-61 on Saturday.
