RowdyZip
I guess I'll try my hand at remembering to put these game threads up...So here we are at the beginning of the final full month of the regular season. Not many of us thought our Zips would be in first place at this point following the loss of Demetrius Treadwell. Probably even less thought we'd find our green-clad basketball rivals struggling to escape the MAC basement.OU did pull off a win over UB in the convo, and they always play us tough there, so this certainly is no "gimmie" for a young squad. There probably aren't any of those the rest of the way, as evidenced by the NIU loss.It sure is fun to watch these guys grow as a team. Looking forward to watching this one on ESPN 3 from my nice warm couch.Thoughts?

The Kitties will certainly be up for the Zips, who will have to be sharp to avoid UB's fate in Athens. Statistical comparison of the two teams shows the Zips leading in most categories, but rivalries like this one often produce unexpected results. UAZipster0305
I like the Zips in this one, but I think it will be fairly tight. I expect a back and forth game until the last few minutes when we pull away and win by no more than five. I expect us to struggle some on the road against a team that is not WMU or BUGS.I love being able to watch on ESPN3!
ZachTheZip
OU has no set offensive scheme. It's all 1-on-1 stuff. A disciplined defensive team will dominate them.
Balsy
The Kitties will certainly be up for the Zips,I've been thinking about that this all season, but for some reason I don't think that's the case. There seems to be some locker-room turmoil on that team that needs to be settled. I don't think the Bobkittens will show up for either of these games this year. For any Bobcat fans who may read this on the forum and think I'm being disrespectful, I'm not trying to be. I throughly enjoy the Bobcat/Zips games...past couple of years they've been highly anticipated, highly entertaining games. From what I've seen out of the Bobkittens version 2014/15, is a team that's is some level of upheaval. 3 coaches in 5 years will do that though. Z.I.P.
For out-of-towners, this game is being broadcast nationally on the ESPN Full Court system. If your cable system doesn't have the ESPN Full-Court broadcasts, you should complain! Thank heavens I have Time Warner Oceanic Cable -- not that they are anything but a monopoly on my little island! (Shut down OU's guards from 3-point shooting, and they are tame!)
MDZip
I actually like it more when Ohio is good, it's been a great rivalry the last few years, I actually enjoyed it more than Can't. Hell we met Ohio in the Championship three out of four years - and even though the two losses were really painful, they were great games. I also would not be surprised to see the Zips lose one at the Convo. Maybe a trap game with Buffalo and Can't coming up.

Sportsjunkie330
"The Zips are beginning to show signs of who they are as the stretch run for the regular season conference title begins. Two admirable traits — defensive tenacity and resilience — are becoming calling cards for the Zips. Both revealed themselves with gusto against Bowling Green."How does he know? He only sees their home games.

Staton14
Is that ESPN 3 or something else? It's kinda like NFL Sunday Ticket or NBA League Pass but it doesn't show all the games obviously. It shows regional broadcasts and some ESPN3 games.
1981 grad
I think we have beaten Ohio U the last 2 years at their place. Two years ago Kretzer went off and made 5 three pointers. That was the year of the streak.Last year I think Ohio had a chance to tie or win and Harney made the defensive play of the game and blocked a layup. (my recollection)It will be tough winning three in a row at their place. I would love to see Kretzer have a good offensive game like he did his freshman year.I hope that we can have a decent start. There should be a big crowd and if Ohio gets a big lead early in the game it could be difficult for this young team to overcome.
Dave in Green
... (Shut down OU's guards from 3-point shooting, and they are tame!)You're living in the past. This edition of the Kitties relies about 20% less on 3-pointers than the Zips. It's their inside game that the Zips need to guard against. Sportsjunkie330
This game shouldn't even be close. OU is really bad this year. UA should win this game by at least

OU Dude
playing the Bobcats this year is like playin Russian Roulette. 5 out of 6 times you squeeze the trigger and you get nothing but a *click*, but every once in a while you get blasted. It happened to Buffalo, it happened to DePaul. Ohio has the talent to win on any given night but they lack the consistancy and the discipline to be a regular threat. There is no rhyme or reason to figuring out which version the Zips will see tomorrow but the odds are slim that they'll see the unbeatable version of the Bobcats. The Hip Zip
I've been wondering why Stevie Taylor as taken such a fall.?? I always liked him from the first time I saw him backing up DJ Cooper. I've watched a couple OU games where he didn't get many minutes at all. It appears from afar that he has maybe sulked under Saul Phillips and they simply have not functioned well together. I just don't know what is going on with him, this should have been his team. Agree that Ndour is a beast. He's fun to watch play and has a motor that just never stops. He's one of the three best "bigs " in the MAC East that I've seen and he'll play professionally somewhere.Agree also with MD Zip that this rivalry seems to have slipped a bit. I loved it when the 'Cats were really tough and these two teams fought like Hell for 40 minutes. They hated us and we hated them. I sure hope we see a good old fashioned battle in front of a large and spirited crowd at the Convo. Many times I've taken the long trip down there and have seen the best of Zip teams come up empty. it was just about impossible to go down there and steal one. Now,not so much though road wins are gold in this conference and are hard earned. I take nothing for granted and expect a very close game that can go either way.Maybe Jake gets peek at those O U jerseys and goes off again.????????Akron 68 OU
Sportsjunkie330
Akron 68 OU 65If UA is a legit contender to win the MAC this year (which I think they are to this point) this game shouldn't be close. I understand that this is a MAC road game and road games in the MAC are tough but OU is one of the worst teams in the conference this year (man that hurts to say that, I like when OU is good). Now is the time of the year where teams should be setting themselves up for March...part of that is winning games like you should. I haven't seen a line on this game but I bet UA is favored by at least 8.
zippy5
Just as UA always beats BG, OU always plays UA tough. I don't think it matters how either team has done so far, it's going to be a battle. There's no shame in winning a close one at OU.

I will say that when one of our wings gets really hot we have a chance to defeat somebody soundly, it just hasn't happened enough. I think the spread is where it should be. FWIW take a look at the Buff/ Ball St game tonight in Muncie. Buffalo looked like a top 25 team when they easily disposed of K E N T on Friday night yet they are only a 6 pt fav at Ball and I give BSU a solid punchers chance at the upset tonight. They have their big guy back and he makes a difference and so can the letdown after a big win as the Zips and Buff both enjoyed.Hope you are correct but I expect a tight one......I'll edit out the betting part since you posted the same time as I was
