ZippyRulz
If our defense can allow only 10 points per game this fall I like our chances!
zipsoutsider
Looked like a good turnout for the game, more than last year. Anyone know if they report #'s from a spring game? I am guessing they don't.The game is essentially a practice, open to the public. Hundley looked good - reminded me a bit of what the Herd did to us last year, powering right up the middle. He looks even better than his best play last year. No doubt, defenses will key in on him.Receiving core was still not what we need, although, I am not sure there were quite as many drops.Defense looks to be very solid. Paired with a solid offense, they could be an exciting force to behold in 2015.QB situation - still pretty much a dead heat. Difficult to evaluate the effectiveness of a dual threat QB, given the rules of engagement. #19 looked good when he threw a few passes, as well. I was pleased to see Pohl playing at a faster pace. Pohl had the only turnover of the game, I believe. With 15 players out, hard to get a great picture of where we are at, but everything looked pretty much like I expected.

Balsy
I've heard it twice, that 15 players were out, does anyone know who they are?
Blue & Gold
I know of one. Jerome Lane. He was in class.
zipsoutsider
Zach Paul, Rodney Coe, Kris Givens.
zippyfan34
For some reason I thought Zach Paul might have graduated when I didn't see him out there. I think kicking game should be a strength in the MAC with him back. Stein has a good leg and hopefully accuracy has improved.
UA1987
I believe Coe and Boxen will be sharing the DT role this year, but Boxen sure looks the part of a strong FBS program player. It will be fun this year to see what kind of impact he will have.

I'm a little worried about FG kicking. We've got Stein, and he's pretty solid...but O'Leary doesn't seem to be very good the times that I've seen him...are we ever going to see Gingerich? K92
Spring ball is over.Unfortunately, we haven't learned much about our 2015 Zips. For some inexplicable reason, spring practices were closed to the public. Due to this development, we had to depend on reports from the ABJ and the PD for our news. I sure would have liked to see some insights from the fans, since we had some very astute observations posted by board members in the past.I would guess summer/fall practices will be closed as well? Wait until Oklahoma to see what the deal is, I guess. The game on Saturday was just about totally worthless for getting a read on what was going on. All I saw was:1. Jamal Marcus appears to be legit. He could get around the outside at will and also looked impressive on the bull rush knocking the OT backwards on numerous occasions.2. As impressive as Marcus looked, Donnell Alexander looked as unimpressive to the same degree.3. Did you catch a load of Matt Blaha? This enormous man tips the scales at 393 pounds and got some playing time at center with the white team. I'd say he showed pretty well.4. Speaking of showing well, it appears that there may be another LB in the pipeline. Sophomore LB Tevan Ray looks like he wants to play. He made some very aggressive stops. The rest of the game? Yawwwwwwwwwwnnnnnnnnn.

Being a South Florida boy he said he has never seen winter like this before he said it snowed two days ago. That's wild.

UA1987
Pohl's int was already mentioned in several prior posts with no mention of his touchdown pass in the Spring game, so I thought it was about time someone pointed it out. Duplicating negative comments on Pohl, with no mention of the good things he's done duplicates my concern about the person posting these slanted comments. I'd say no one took Pohl's starting position in the Spring. T. Chapman showed elusiveness on the run but his passing was off target. In the Fall things could change, but I like Pohl's experience at QB. It has not been discussed yet, that I have seen, about T. Chapman's height - can he see well enough over both lines at this level to see the WR routes and get the ball there on target. He may need to adjust and work on this part of his game.
Dr Z
Pohl looked like the best QB in the Spring game. Nobody looked like they were threatening his starting job to me. Like UA87 said, things could change in the fall, but it would surprise me judging from this spring. I think the "one read" offense benefits KP16. K92
I will be surprised if the "one read" offense benefits anyone.
Lee Adams
The so called 'one read offense' IF Bowden actually changes his philosophy is nothing more than a further 'dumbing down' of his offensive beliefs to suit the talent or perceived lack thereof that he has at the QB and WR positions. Might be a positive as long as they can run the ball consistently and the WR's he has can catch the ball consistently and the O line holds up. Pohl will never be a 'runner'. And opponents will not view him as a running threat. Not someone they have to 'game plan' for. Maybe a Woodson or a Chapman would be better in that role. Still BIG question marks going in to next season.
