Balsy Posted April 1, 2015 Report Posted April 1, 2015 This has been a rather hot topic the last couple of days with Indiana deciding to take a giant leap backwards. The Mid-American Conference, however, has decided that it will Boycott the State of Indiana so long as it's new law is in place. Now I'm not sure how much real, measurable, impact this will have...but the specific Boycott is holding any conference championships in the state so long as this law is in place.I've got to hand it to the MAC on this one. We usually criticize the leadership of the conference for doing boneheaded decisions, but this one is pretty good. The MAC isn't a largely recognized conference, but it is bound to get some positive press from making this decision. Quote
zippy5 Posted April 1, 2015 Report Posted April 1, 2015 Maybe we can boycott Ball State basketball Quote
ZachTheZip Posted April 1, 2015 Report Posted April 1, 2015 An easy statement to make since the MAC doesn't hold championships in Indiana anyways. Quote

ZipsBurgh Posted April 1, 2015 Report Posted April 1, 2015 Track and Field Championships in May are in Indiana. Quote
skip-zip Posted April 1, 2015 Report Posted April 1, 2015 Aren't they just joining the NCAA's stance on this issue anyway? It's crazy for anyone to think that this somehow will raise the profile of the MAC and show their outstanding character as a conference. No need to worry. Now that control in the Senate in Washington has changed hands, we only need a new leader in the White House before we can finally put an end to this era of the government leaders strong-arming people with their own political agenda, and stripping them of their freedoms. skip-zip Posted April 1, 2015 Report Posted April 1, 2015 Track and Field Championships in May are in Indiana.I'm sure that if the MAC denies the State of Indiana from hosting this event, and others like it, it will severely damage their economy.Yes, that would clearly send a statement !! People are going to take notice, for sure. Quote

Note I said some positive media reception, and as I post this the 12:00 news has already mentioned the MAC and had a featured story about it.Now I could go on a rant about how I can predict, right now, with a high degree of confidence, the outcome of the 2016 election both presidential and senate based on voting trends (and it isn't favorable for the party that took the senate in 2014)...but I'll spare everyone the OT conversation. LZIp Posted April 1, 2015 Report Posted April 1, 2015 Good for the MAC, but they aren't setting any trend here, more like following it. Quote
Balsy Posted April 1, 2015 Author Report Posted April 1, 2015 Good for the MAC, but they aren't setting any trend here, more like following it.Considering non of the other conferences have announced a boycott...I wouldn't say thats "following" at all. Quote

The B1G mentioned nearly a week ago, but I havent seen anything official. Regardless, I was talking about a much wider scope than NCAA conferences. Quote

Somehow the Zips escaped the list despite a number of complaints about the teams they did name never having won a bowl game. Can't, EMU and UMass were the MAC teams who made this list. Quote

Balsy Posted April 2, 2015 Author Report Posted April 2, 2015 Thank you. I don't want to listen to your liberal BS.Unfortunately, the reason I'm able to make that prediction has about 0% with being Liberal or Conservative, and just about 100% with understanding demographics, statistics and electoral trends...you know, the stuff that UA taught me. Dave in Green Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 ... liberal BS.Conservative BS stinks just as badly as liberal BS. We have to cut through all the BS from the far left and the far right to get to something resembling rational thought. People with differences can work together and compromise to get things done. It's been done in the past and it will be done in the future. 2 Quote
LZIp Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 Is this about setting a trend or just doing the right thing? In my first response I said "Good for the MAC" regarding the decision. My point was that is isn't some monumental decision because there are a lot of organizations/people doing it, and there was a poster trying to make a case for them being "leaders." I appreciate your concern though. Quote
