The reason our program attracts the best players is their opportunity to play for Akron and go pro, whether that is after a year or several years. Having players sign with Generation Adidas draws potential recruits' attention to our program and gives our coaches a great tool with which to convince them to sign up. Without that, we would not even know these players to lament their leaving early.

You are right on the money, my friend!

We. Train.  Pros.

The MLS and USL is littered with former Zips.  And we are not done with that yet.  Not by a long shot.  That is our calling card.

As Kentucky is to NCAA Basketball, Akron is to NCAA Soccer.

Emotionally speaking, I want underclassman to stay.  I get attached the these guys.  And I desperately want to win championships!

But it is a good thing for the program, every time a player gets one of those Generation Adidas deals with guaranteed six figures $.

Better advertisement for the program is not even for sale, and is therefore priceless!

If I had my druthers, every player would red-shirt and stay 5 years, like Ezana Kahsay.

  • 4 years later...

This play could have gone either way.  In my playing days, this was definitely a handball, so sorry.  But handball is not so cut and dry nowadays.  I say both the VAR assistant and the head referee acted correctly.  The system worked.
