2016 Recruiting

Bilal Ally

Some of the seniors who are drawing interest from colleges are center Jake Conrad (Furman commitment). Ally (Akron, Appalachian State, Troy, Gardner Webb, Eastern Kentucky and Presbyterian), Beaulieu and Adams.

Ally is hoping to receive more Division I scholarship offers.

“He’s the total package,”Hoekstra said. “He has career stats of 5,004 all- purpose yards in 31 games. He’s healthy. He’s explosive in weight room. At 185 pounds, he ran a 4.45 at an Auburn camp.”

Looks like he got a Georgia Tech offer and is leaning that way.

I'd like to see a good JUCO running back in our 2016 class too (Justin Crawford?).

I would not disagree with that at all ......... Because

2016:

Van Edwards - Soph- Is going to be the feature IMO if not next year, as a Jr

DJ Jones - Sr - Is he even on the team ? Redshirted as a freshman in 2012. appeared in 8 games in 2014 but zero evidence of existence in 2015

Hakeem Lawrence - Sr- Showed playing time in different areas in 2015 but pretty non existent

Manny Morgan - Jr - Shows playing time in 7 games with 2 kick returns

Chuck Turfe - RF - Redshirted

Unfortunately, word down here in the Gawga (he is from Columbus, GA) is that Louisville may be the next stop for Mr Crawford. He would be a very nice catch

Looks like we picked up an DL/OL,Trevor Brown, from NC. Great size. If I had to guess, maybe will be used at OT?

Big guy .... If he is a prep school guy, would he come in as a soph or Jr ? Same as a JUCO ?

I think he would be a freshman.

He looks like a good defensive lineman.

I couldn't find anything about him coming out of HS. He has a nice G5 offer list now, though. Looking at his twitter, I also found out we also offered his teammate DeMarcus Lloyd (LB). Looks like we are his only offer so far.

Well now ............. Offered QB Justice Hansen from Butler CC - 6'4 - 215#

Originally at Oklahoma. Looks to have offers from Iowa St, Akron, and UAB. Would be a tremendous get with 3 years of eligibility I believe.

Lots of potential. Gladney was Academic All-Big Ten in 2014. Gladney, Natson, and Smith all have big play explosiveness potential. Getting another target to match Lane will make the offense a real threat.

The O Line will benefit from the most continuity we have had since we lost Tank. Casimos should be back, along with Ritz and Erickson, plus transfers, new recruits and some of the kids who red-shirted last year. I know we lost all seniors, but I think we could have the potential for a solid line for 3-4 years. Mitchell Hlay and Rich Kallay are good sized kids. Josh Krol is huge.

We lost some amazing talent at D, but we gave some amazing talent on the team who already started contributing this year. Marcus and Pittman will be able to provide some leadership up front for us. Looking forward to watching Boxen and Bell develop. I think they have some real talent.

Hopefully we will pick up a couple of Rodney Coe and Darryl Monroe type transfers with immediate eligibility, too.

We aren't there, but things are starting to come together for us in a big way.

Another transfer is CB Bryce Jones from Boston College.

Also, I am not sure if they will be on the football team, however, I think that both former Massillon players Reggie Rogers S/WR and JD Crabtree RB/LB were enrolled at Akron in the fall.

Re: Rogers, I tried to do a little digging. I would have swore there used to be a student directory where you could look up students, but I couldn't find it. Anyways, taking a quick look at his twitter, he is followed by Akron football video and retweeted a tweet about Akron's bowl win. Besides that I couldnt find anything else, but I think it shows there's a possibility he could be involved with the football team. I also noticed he wasn't offered by Akron coming out of high school...why??

I hope that means we gave something good going on at that position r that Avery Cagle turns out to be a beast. Williams when healthy, was good, but we need so e height at that position. We need the blocking support and another outlet for Woodson.
