I can never figure out how the guys sitting out 2016 (Freddy Simmons) fit into the equation. I have a feeling the total number of "new faces" for 2017 will be 22+. I will try and find out more tomorrow.

LZIp
Looks like Arslanian will be a walk on. kreed5120
17 would seem about right. Assuming every freshman redshirts (not necessarily the case but a high % do) 85 scholarships divided by 5 years comes out to 17 players per year. Sure attrition such as; players transferring, quitting school, or in the case of Lane declaring for the draft makes it so not all players stay 5 years. But we take on, or at least in the past have, a lot of transfers so that offsets some of that. Edited January 31, 2017 by kreed5120

As an independent site with no paid writers or budget, ZipsNation is what you make it. And you guys made it an excellent resource through your effort, time and Zips Football passion. I've never met any of you...probably never will...but I've very grateful for your above-and-beyond efforts to make this site as good as it can be. Zips fans both far-and-wide appreciate it. Zach - my apologies for not including you in this list of outstanding contributors. I fixed it. LZIp
No Brimage and no Suggs. Not good. I have to guess Bentley will be on scholly. Not sure why he would turn down one from YSU to walk on at Akron.

Jemarulin Suggs is definitely signing. Same with DeAndre Brimage. (Unless they're both non-qualifiers, or something. But they're both definitely planning on playing ball for UA.) ZachTheZip
I don't recall who, but I remember having some early signees. If that's right, then they wouldn't get announced tomorrow but would still count toward the recruiting class.

94zipgrad
Football has been one of the few college sports without an early signing period, joined only by soccer and water polo. Basketball's early signing period has been considered a major success, because colleges do not have to continually recruit committed prospects once they've signed. that is a cut & paste out of NCAA rules on football national signing Edited February 1, 2017 by 94zipgrad

94zipgrad
You can be enrolled & practice spring ball if your a Juco transfer like Johns or if you graduate early but you still need to sign I believe
