Reading these posts, you can tell that this is a fanbase that has endured a lot of punishment, football-wise.

Zips win 47-24. The offense was absolutely vanilla. They could score at will if they wanted.

Defense is a real concern.  Disappointed that Ball didn't seem to be the force that I was hoping for.   Had hoped he be a dominating back at this level.

VMI's coach must have been mad about the Zips throwing deep late. To be honest they didn't even deserve to be in the game. If you don't want Akron to score, stop them. 

 

Usually I'm the most negative person after a game like this. I still think the Zips will lose next week. But, I really hope it was the coaching staff trying to hide something. Obviously the penalties were the main reason VMI was still in the game in the 3rd. But the lack of adjustments only makes me think they were holding back. I mean Jerod Cherry was basically begging the Zips to switch to a zone defense after they kept getting beat.

Then I wish they would have willed to have more than a 2 point cushion after 3 quarters, even if it meant exposing some playbook. That's cutting it a little close. And you can't score at will with that amount of penalties. Let's hope Wisconsin will be hung over and flat.

When you look at how Ball is put together and realize he barely played in 4 years you can figure out he's not Barry Sanders. 

 

The defense and lack of discipline is very concerning.

He really was hot- right in TBs face.   Felt like terry was saying "u do know our history right?   And the sack of crap I took on.   And we're at Wisconsin next week."

I was sitting on the VMI side on the fifty yard line and their coach was pissed at Bowden when the game was over and we kept throwing the ball downfield trying to score.  He was staring at Bowden across the field the last series and his body language was what the heck are you doing.  He ran over from the sideline in record time to get in Bowdens face as soon as the game was over. 

 

Akron had a great fireworks display at the end of the game.  I am glad I stayed for it.

 

The sound system sucks.  Every time they play a song with any bass with it all you hear is distorted static.  You would think that somebody would check that out before the season began.  

 

As with most posters, was not impressed with Akron football.  Way to many penalties and their defense was suspect.  The VMI back caught several passes out of the backfield and you would think that somebody would eventually cover him.
