I’m curious to see if he makes a leap his senior year. Long definitely has the physical attributes with a big arm and fluid throwing motion. Although, we’ve also offered instate prospect Ethan Grunkemeyer who I think is a better prospect despite not having a rating, yet. Long is just in the our backyard. I know Illinois is interested in Long, but they want to see him play in person before offering.

Following back up on this. We’re probably about to be out of the Grunkemeyer sweepstakes. His recruitment has taken off. Grunkemeyer now holds 22 offers with 2 recent P5 offers from Northwestern and Indiana.

Some of these guys I intentionally left off the 2024 offer list if they were clearly going P5. “No offer‘ means we haven’t offered, but almost all these guys have at least 1 MAC offer.

5) Offered

6) No offer

#16 Devin Bell committed to Miami (OH). His only offer to date.

Grunkemeyer committed to Penn State. I imagine more P5 offers will come his way, so it’ll be interesting to see if he follows through on that commitment.

Long is up to 15 offers, but none of them are P5 and he currently does not hold an offer from us.

Looks like JacQai Long committed to Marshall and has also transferred to a high school in West Virginia.

Marshall can have him. I was thoroughly unimpressed with him this past year. It blows my mind he has so many D-1 offers.  They must see thus-far-unrealized potential there.

I agree. I thought he made Hoban worse, not better. Lamar Sperling carried that team, not Long.

Me too. I thought with Long coming in Hoban was going to be able to force defenses to be honest by stretching the field like they were able to do w/ Shane Hamm under center.  Not so.  It was Sperling or bust.
