Plus the board's slow this a.m. so no one will mind. When we wore these the first time I loved them so much I was hoping we'd wear them once a year. I was disappointed when they sold the jerseys & never saw them again. Already having the nicest uniforms in all of football (and the most famous mascot in the universe), we should incorporate the throwbacks once a year. The rich keep getting richer! TC5's 1st and 2nd halves were entirely different. Hopefully we witnessed a QB grow up right before our eyes. TC5's QB ratings: 1st Half = 30.71 2nd Half = 208.63 If you are coaching against the Zips, do you game plan different between the two QB's? Is it possible TC5 starts, and Tommy dresses just incase he needs relief?

Bowden said that the offense wasn't changed for Chapman, and it did seem like most of what we were attempting to do was no different. But I am sure we ran some different plays. At the very least, if I were an opponent, I would regard Chapman as a more effective runner. So, I would plan to have him watched a bit more to scamper out of the backfield. Is it possible TC5 starts, and Tommy dresses just incase he needs relief? Great question. I sure do. Against TC5 I still stack the box & play tight man-to-man & make him prove to me again that he can beat me with his arm. (Btw, I think he can. I think we watched the game slow down for TC5 during the K.e.nt game.) Gameplay against a healthy Woodson? Good luck. But Woody can't be that injured, can he? I wouldn't think so... not if he was ready to go against K.e.nt & his not playing was a last-minute decision. But I think we can beat Miami without Woody, so I'd rest him up for WMU & let him get fully healed. No sense re-aggravating an almost-healed injury against the Red Turkeys. I make him hand off as many times as I can, and make him throw to the middle of the field. His deep ball is unreal, and I'm scared of his ability to strike quick on long plays. I want him orchestrating a 10+ play drive instead of a 5 play drive that ends up with Jojo/Lane/Wolf dancing in the end zone. If TC5 starts, he is going to see man, we need to win 3 or 4 of those matchups to keep the defense honest. His second half last week is a good indication he can. Bryce Jones was doing everything last week. Now he's expanding his role this week....
Blue & Gold
Here's the latest Homecoming Game story from the Beacon Journal. http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/university-of-akron-football-zips-face-uncertainty-at-quarterback-heading-into-game-against-miami-1.716861 Oh, wait... this is 3-days old
Section210Zip
Yesterday Terry said Woody bruised his shoulder at the end of the App St. game. He said there isn't anything wrong structurally and he has been cleared by the doctors to play. Its a matter of being able to deal with the pain. Terry went on to say all last week Woody felt better and better but still had a lot of discomfort when he warmed up Saturday. Both qb's practice with the 1's this week and if Saturday Woody is still sore TC5 is ready to go.
akzipper
Hate to say it, but a sore Woodson is a better option than Chapman. He was brutal to watch against Kent State.

zipsoutsider
If a Woodson is a go, I'd line up both QBs in different formations and positions throughout the first series to totally throw off the D. I'd let Chapman throw one to Woody, let Chapman run it once, and let him throw a short pass, then let Woody take a snap and go for a home run. zipsoutsider
Miami's play calling seemed to chicken out after Hope almost grabbed that interception. Zips started to adjust to the run. Glad we stopped them at 3.

MDZip
I'm thinking this Natson guy was a pretty good offseason pick up :-) And Chapman has been pretty impressive.

zipsoutsider
Just now, Z.I.P. said: I'd just let Chappy run it the first play, eh? In fairness, it was the second. No Woody, no Ball, no Marcus....21-6. Not too shabby, so far. Our penalty issue has certainly improved - we have zero so far and the D is coming along - another good opportunity to grow. Gilbert looks better and better every week. Boxen also looking better.
Z.I.P.
Watching, I LUV the new ol' throwback helmets. 76 Tributes. AND, the band has ZipsNation T-shirts -- how do we get some of those?

Are the Zips Nations shirts the ones they handed out in week 1 with schedules on the back?

zipsoutsider
For a change, some defensive notables today. Kyron Brown is going to be a special player. Gilbert gets better every game. Starting to get excited about him. Zach Guiser is our most dependable defensive player. He is the defensive MVP of the season, so far. Deon'Tae Moore and Alvin Davis are players to watch. Venckus ha played well for us. Boxen looking sharper. Larry Hope plays hard for us Where is Deandre Scott?

akzipper
Welp. Jojo looks like he seriously injured his shoulder. Maybe broken collar bone or dislocated? Hate to say it, but a better throw and that never happens. Chapman seems to be overthrowing everyone all day.
