If Natson would have pulled it in, it would have been a phenomenal catch. I wouldn't say he choked. If we want to point at what cost us points, it was the bad snap on the missed FG.

I'll duck after I hit enter, but it was a good effort from a third string QB, who has had less than 2 weeks of practice since high school and a defense that has been abysmal showed up to play. Let's put this horrible, injury-riddled season behind us and look to a better year next year. I am not sure in-depth analysis is very applicable when in truth, the season boiled down to too many key players injuries.

Injuries didn't help, but I will say the season boiled down to an inept offense coaching staff lumped in with a defense that had zero talent. All in all, this lies at Terry Bowdens feet.

We had a wide receiver playing QB for the last two games. Down our starting running back and our NFL bound defensive end. Maybe they could have played things a little differently but they were dealt a pretty shitty hand.

I watched the entire game. Apparently, you didn't watch the buffalo game where Woodson was an absolute train wreck.

Perhaps a disclaimer of a healthy Woodson. In any case the defense took a complete 180 since that game, you aren't really comparing apples to apples here. I'm positive Woody could have put up 10 points

I agree that injuries suck but that's reality.  The Zips have been very fortunate the last few years to dodge the injury bug that has bitten so many MAC squads.  Injuries really hurt when your depth sucks.  Depth sucks when recruiting isn't up to snuff.

I agree that recruiting has been pretty awful

Let me rephrase... Thank god Rob Ianello recruited Goodman about 6 years ago or we would have been completely screwed. He was better than Bowdens starter last year and #2 this year.

Sad, but true.

1)  I hope the bright spot we can take out of this game is that our Defense has finally grown up.

2) If Chapman was truly ready to play, I'd say it's very puzzling why we'd go with Goodman.

3) I think JoJo should have caught that ball.  it was right in his two hands, right in front of him, and he bobbled it pulling it against himself.  That's what I think I saw.

The Game:

1) Natson must catch that ball. He didn't. Stop the alibi's. He failed in that moment

2) the D played OK only when judging them against themselves. They are still lousy

3) This team has no discipline

4) No discipline, no heart

5) Goodman did as good as he could. he's a hero in my mind

6) OU sucks. OU beat us. Where does that put us. It's obvious.

The Season:

1) Our biggest gain next year will be if Bowden fires/reassigns Milwee. Milwee is not ready to be a coordinator and has proved it in spades.

2) Objectively, the offensive staff is below par

3) This team has no discipline. That's on the coaching staff. They do not demand it.

4) Injuries happen, stop using them as an alibi

5) As said by another poster, our depth sucks and that's due to recruiting. It has sucked.

6) Start next year with an open competition at QB. I will take a dual threat QB (Cato) over a superior passer any day.

7) Joe Akron has not embraced the Zips b/c he knows good football. We do not consistently play good football. In fact this season we rarely played good football.

Let's stop complaining about Joe Akron and start earning his support.

8) I support Bowden and expect him to make the corrections to the staff that will lead us to a better season. I want him to succeed.

9) We have a good team coming back and/or awaiting eligibility. All is not lost, but we did take a step backward this season and it will take 2-3 seasons to erase the

    bad taste of this season.

10) Silly me. I thought we had a shot at 8-4. Zip fans dream.

11) I believe in my heart of hearts that we should be at the top of the MAC. We lost an opportunity to get there this year.

At last count, I think we're supposed to be returning 10 starters on offense, and 6 on defense.  So, I agree with you that we should have a good team coming back.

So, why would you also state that you think we have 2-3 bad years ahead of us?

It's amazing how many times in this thread that people are proclaiming that OU sucks.

If I had the time, I'd go back and see how many of the same people spent the last couple of week posting about how OU was so superior to us, and we were going to get destroyed.

Last night was the first time I watched a Bobcats game.  I assumed they were decent based on their record.  I obviously gave them too much credit for beating Toledo.  What I saw last night was what I usually see when the Zips play a Solich Ohio team.  A team that doesn't have a lot of talent but plays hard and a coaching staff that comes up with a good game plan.

After the Buffalo and BG debacles, not many Zips fans held out a lot of hope for the game last night.  Ohio is definitely a better team than either one of those 2 putrid squads.  Any posts about Ohio being far superior to Akron were probably based on a negative opinion of the Zips rather than a positive opinion of the Bobcats.

After seeing them play, I certainly was not impressed by Ohio, but they were good enough to beat Akron for the 9th straight time.

Skip,

You may want to reread what I said. I never said we would have 2-3 bad years ahead. I said it would take 2-3 years to remove the bad taste of this season. It will take that long to establish credibility. That's all I meant. We could have done that this season with a 7-5 or 8-4 record. It would have served to show we are for real. That clock now needs to be rewound and started again. BTW, I was not amongst those who said OU was superior to us. The game last night again showed they suck, but so do we.

Thanks for your posts. I enjoy them.

I'm not sure if you guys have viewed the Woodson thread, but on twitter Woody and a few other players were alluding to the fact Woodson felt he could and should have played, but someone on the Zips staff prevented him.

It's all hearsay.  Let's not go down the conspiracy road like the forum did when Kyle Pohl wasn't playing.  There's plenty of players, after suffering a concussion, who would say they can play...when they really can't and shouldn't.  Not saying it's equivalent Woodson's injury and a concussion, just trying to point out that it's hearsay that shouldn't even be considered in a conversation.

Regardless, it's not a good sign when multiple current and former players take to social media to voice their displeasure with the Zips organization.
