InTheZone Posted May 2, 2017 Report Posted May 2, 2017 I've been told the Zips are on his short list and there's mutual interest. He was a great player coming out of high school, I'd certainly like to see what he has left in the tank. http://tennessee.247sports.com/Article/Quarterback-Sheriron-Jones-leaving-Tennessee-Vols-football-progr-52593886 1 Quote

LZIp Posted May 3, 2017 Report Posted May 3, 2017 I'm usually excited about the thought of a transfer from a P5 but cannot get excited about the thought of this QB who was at best 3rd on the depth chart, sometimes 4th in a wide open race. I'd rather the scholly go somewhere else. Quote

If we have an open scholarship, we need a Coe, Grice, Marcus, Capi...etc. Hopefully not a QB. 1 Quote
kreed5120 Posted May 3, 2017 Report Posted May 3, 2017 If the staff feels he's a significant upgrade over what we have, I have no problem with it. If not, there is no point. I wonder how many available scholarships we have? Quote

You mean, a 3rd or 4th string P5 player like Warren Ball? Plenty of people here were excited about that situation (still are) and we knew we were only going to have him for one year. We'd likely have a lot more to benefit from this situation, if we could get him. Quote
zipsoutsider Posted May 3, 2017 Report Posted May 3, 2017 From what I have heard, we aren't going to win without Tommy. Scholarships have a way of opening up when they need He was a 4 star recruit by all of the major recruiting sites. If he can be a solid back-up or even a competitor, bring him in to camp. Quote

I've heard good things about Kato. But he's young, and I'm sure the coaching staff would feel much better with a 5th year senior at the helm if Tommy's back to full health. Quote
InTheZone Posted May 5, 2017 Author Report Posted May 5, 2017 Here's an article from his recruitment back in 2015. It appears we were one of the first schools to offer him.http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2070897-4-star-qb-sheriron-jones-talks-decision-plans-being-a-cam-newton-look-a-like Quote
blueandgold Posted May 5, 2017 Report Posted May 5, 2017 I say, if we can get him to come here, why not? The higher the competition level at QB, the better chance we have of having a good/great starting QB. Quote

Note that he said "the higher the level of competition". Something that was lacking in many of those Browns QB controversies. Quote
