I think the proof should be in the history and results.

For 12 years, everyone here anguished over whether we could repeat success the following year by losing players A, B, and C, etc., and every year we found a way to get right back to where we were during the course of the season.

Maybe 2015 would be your best example.  Chauncey, Walsh, and Zeke had all graduated, and Harney, Treadwell and Abreu had all "exited" the team over a period of roughly a little more than a year.  Our PG was a freshman, and he tore his ACL.  Another freshman stepped in, and that guy along with a hobbled Forsythe (who could only muster a few minutes per game) took us all the way to the MAC Semifinal.

That team was so decimated by the end of the season that we decided not to take a postseason bid, if you recall.

Like him or not, Keith knew how to put the pieces together to win MAC basketball games, in all kinds of different circumstances.  And he proved that, over, and over and over again.

When Keith took over, he had Romeo, DJ III and Jerimiah Wood... three of the best Zips in recent memory. Groce got, basically, a bucket of spit with one all-MAC calibre player. Huge, huge difference.

Keith is my friend since junior high. Loved him here. Happy for him for his payday. Wish him well. But Groce is handling a situation that Keith never faced at Akron.

Groce's biggest recruiting job in his short career at Akron was to prevent any more players from leaving once he was hired. He either wasn't able to or did not want to do that. It's a situation that's partially of his own making.

You should really change your name to either ZachTheKD or ZachTheZipUnlessAkronMakesADecisionIDoNotLike.

Come on. This year was bound to be a struggle. Next year, we'll get a chance to evaluate Groce and what he can bring far better. The same with Keith at Duquesn.

A situation brought to him by none other than KD

Yes... but he was already here. Players didn't leave because Hipsher left. They stayed because Hipsher left.

Again, Keith took over a program he was already building. Groce took over a program that Keith abandoned.

Keith left after 13 years.  Let's cut the "abandoned" silliness.

NOT that he abandoned. That he took players and recruits with him. He did not pay the recruiting expenses out of his pocket. UA did.
