dre22era Posted August 8, 2020 Report Posted August 8, 2020 (edited) Unofficial Financial Death Penalty Akron may not survive Can confirm the Stadium report that the MAC has cancelled football this fall. MAC presidents had a call at 9 a.m. this morning, and the finances didn't make sense anymore. The league had just 5 buy games with Power 5 schools remaining. Look for the spring option to be explored. — Pete Thamel (@PeteThamel) August 8, 2020 Edited August 8, 2020 by dre22era

There are actually true Akron fans on here who are sad and incredibly disappointed about all of this and you choose to grab your handful of salt and rub it in the open wounds. I don't know what the University of Akron did to you that's made you such a negative troll, but your desire to make everyone else miserable proves to me that whatever it was you deserved it.
John Ward Posted August 8, 2020 Report Posted August 8, 2020 This is just terrible. I figured this might happen. My heart goes out to those seniors on the team that have worked so hard only to see their careers end like this. 1

So because I spoke reality you respond like a hurt little bitch? Talk about miserable, everything you said mirrors yourself
dre22era Posted August 8, 2020 Report Posted August 8, 2020 Northern Illinois, with a president who’s an infectious disease expert, reportedly forced the MAC’s hand to cancel football. “The league didn’t like the look of NIU going out on their own and not playing.” https://t.co/gQJxHM9FHt— Jon Solomon (@JonSolomonAspen) August 8, 2020
Dr Z Posted August 8, 2020 Author Report Posted August 8, 2020 The Mid-American Conference has canceled its football season. The below ZN members answered the poll correctly:
ZippyRulz Posted August 8, 2020 Report Posted August 8, 2020 I nailed it ! Looking forward to the spring poll ?
bigjim Posted August 8, 2020 Report Posted August 8, 2020 There are times in life that you wish you were wrong. This is one of those times. I was watching the commissioner on TV explaining the situation, and it is very disappointing for the fans and alumni. However, for the good of the players and fans that attend the games, I think this is the best decision (unfortunately). See prior posts of mine, I am expecting the rest of college and high school football to follow suit. Let's all pray that this virus ends soon. Go Zips. 2

Spin Posted August 8, 2020 Report Posted August 8, 2020 (edited) I wonder what the pandemic will do to enrollment. The last time the Zips didn’t play football was World War 2... Edited August 9, 2020 by Spin

There's a recent Crains article that quotes UA estimated decline in enrollment around 20%. While that sounds high I've seen articles quoting the same decline for Kentucky so it's not just UA.
