Let'sGoZips94 Posted January 9, 2021 Report Posted January 9, 2021 Steve Hawkins: "The MAC is always so close. I can never identify the top or the bottom." Spoken like a WMU coach who spent 20 years in the middle. 3 Quote
LZIp Posted January 9, 2021 Report Posted January 9, 2021 I'm liking the insight Hawkins is generally providing. I hate this zone. Taking deep threes probably won't end well for us. Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted January 9, 2021 Author Report Posted January 9, 2021 Another slow start for the Zips. Quote
AkronAlumnus Posted January 9, 2021 Report Posted January 9, 2021 they did have a week to prepare for this weird D. Expect an answer Quote
Let'sGoZips94 Posted January 9, 2021 Report Posted January 9, 2021 The #1 weapon against the zone is team chemistry. Off the ball movement, knowing where those guys are gonna be moving to off the ball, etc. With the limited time this team has together, especially in a competitive environment, the slow start doesn't surprise me. 1 Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted January 9, 2021 Author Report Posted January 9, 2021 Seems like the Zips have had slow starts against the zone since....forever. Quote
LZIp Posted January 9, 2021 Report Posted January 9, 2021 They sure are calling it pretty tight against us! 1 Quote
LZIp Posted January 9, 2021 Report Posted January 9, 2021 1 and 1 and Eastern doesn't even put anyone up to rebound the free throw. Such a damn boring and gimmicky style of play! Quote
zipsrule Posted January 9, 2021 Report Posted January 9, 2021 There is no flow to this game with all the whistles. Quote
AkronAlumnus Posted January 9, 2021 Report Posted January 9, 2021 EMU is used to playing with no fans. I went to the game last year in ypsi and the place was desolate. 1 Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted January 9, 2021 Author Report Posted January 9, 2021 Dailey finally starting to get a little more aggressive on offense. Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted January 9, 2021 Author Report Posted January 9, 2021 A Currie sighting!!!! Quote

clarkwgriswold Posted January 9, 2021 Author Report Posted January 9, 2021 Good to see Tribble in too. Quote
LZIp Posted January 9, 2021 Report Posted January 9, 2021 I don't see a point in passing it to Ali in the low post if he's going to be hesitant with it. Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted January 9, 2021 Author Report Posted January 9, 2021 Ugly finish to half. Quote
zipsrule Posted January 9, 2021 Report Posted January 9, 2021 I thought we had the zone figured out when we were up 28-21, but we went on another scoring drought. Need to make some adjustments for the second half. Quote
NWAkron Posted January 9, 2021 Report Posted January 9, 2021 Outscored 16-2. Their lead is from free throws. Typical EMU game, but thought Zips were a step above being in "typical" games. Quote
NWAkron Posted January 9, 2021 Report Posted January 9, 2021 (edited) It's been fun guys. Time to call it a day. Likely a season. Outscored 29-6! Edited January 9, 2021 by NWAkron Quote
LZIp Posted January 9, 2021 Report Posted January 9, 2021 Right now - if LCJ doesn't play lights out - we are a below average MAC team. I love the Enrique story, but he still looks like our second best player and that shouldn't be the case. Players need to step up. These games can happen against this gimmicky style of play as well. Luckily we have a cupcake lined up next with NIU before a showdown with Toledo. I'd like coach to shorten the rotation up some, but I'm sure its difficult since nobody is really standing out. Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted January 9, 2021 Author Report Posted January 9, 2021 Zips in a funk and that happens sometimes, but damn, they're getting outworked and that's unacceptable. It only took Rob Murphy 10 years to discover have three huge lumbering players in the game doesn't make you a good defensive team. Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted January 9, 2021 Author Report Posted January 9, 2021 Some of the Zips think they can make up 16 points in one possession. Quote
