As much as Riak could make us nuts with his bad hands and lack of offense, this is a game where his defense would make a difference against the dribble penetration.

I have to admit, I kind of miss going into a bad Napoleon Dynamite accent and yelling "Deng" when Riak came into the game.  He had terrible hands, but he always hustled and called out a lot of our defensive sets.  He would be very valuable to this team.

Watching replay, and Dakich is going off on refs and the 1999? Miami team.  He said there was an 8 count on a 10 second call and bad call on a charge and that Miami shouldn't have been in the NCAA tournament.   But looks like PCCC won in 1999 and Miami was an at large.  Any MAC historians know what he is talking about?

No idea what Dakich was talking about but he did have one coaching point that I thought was worthwhile.  At the end of the half we ran a set play and Dakich indicated that we should set up Dailey to shoot from the left corner since he had just made a 3 from that spot on the last possession.  We ran a play and LCJ shot from the left corner and missed.  Considering Dailey's shooting slump, I thought that was a great idea to reward a player who just made a 3.

I'm guessing he's probably talking about 1997 when I believe Sczerbiak got hurt early in the MAC season, missed a couple of weeks, then came back vs. BG, then went on to win the MAC Tournament. Miami was pretty dominant in 1999 in the MAC if I'm not mistaken, and had a pretty good national rep. Sczerbiak got dinged a bit in the MAC Tournament and lost to Kent in the title game by a point or two as Sczerbiak had an off game by his standards. ... At least, that's what I recall, so we're matching my memory vs. Dakich, so take that for what it's worth.

IMHO, GT's article in the Beacon today was awful.  Basically, Zips fans should be worried as Groce and his team cling to 2nd place.

Poorly written.

You were expecting?

George is worried about a Zips defense that is two points in average better than any other team in the league.  Just imagine if he'd just report on what actually happened in the game and spared us the analysis.

PCCC gets a glowing article for BEATING the Huskies, and Zips, who beat PCCC twice, have a game against NIU looming on the horizon?

But as GT lamely with a cliche flourish points out, "time will tell" for those wily Zips whose top-rated defense apparently sucks.
