As a Zips fan, I was bothered.....by WMU "bragging" about their recent  success against the Zips.     I am ready for the Zips to re-assert their superiority over that team up north.

WMU and Akron University will renew their storied rivalry on August 30 at "The Farm".The Brown and Gold will look to continue their recent success against the Zips and will shoot for their fourth win in six contests against their foes from Ohio. The Broncos and Zips last faced off on November 12, 2022, in the MAC Tournament Championship game, where the Brown and Gold defeated Akron 2-1 behind goals from WMU alumni Charlie Sharp and Jaylen Shannon. Akron concluded the 2023 season ranked 45th in the RPI after posting a 9-2-7 record.

F the Brown & Gold and the Bronco they rode in on!!!

Only good thing ever to come out of Kalamazoo MI is Bell's Brewery (and Caleb Porter).

Q:  Why are all WMU MSOC matches played in the afternoon?

Why oh why do we have to wait until Our Leader decides to post non-con matches?  There was an Instagram post with the non-con schedule, but it mysteriously disappeared the next day....cannot be found.  Yet the knuckleheads that try to show "leadership" in Marketing 101 won't let us know who we're playing....but there's more!  Now they want me, us, to renew our season tickets but they won't tell us who we're playing or when...

What a GREAT DI experience!  Way to go Zips Athletics....

I'm both aggravated with this and with our absolutely awful football schedule.  I'm still on the fence in regards to renewing both season tickets.  The only season ticket I'm definitely renewing is men's basketball.

Does UA still have a Marketing curriculum?  Or was that cut?

Great post !!!  Agree with you 100%.  They want us to renew our tickets by June 28....but they won't tell us how many home games that there are...and who the zips are playing.

the schedule that disappeared...showed the zips at Notre Dame on Aug. 22.   Notre Dame has not posted their schedule yet

BlowOhio State has released their schedule....and they show that they play at Akron on August 25.

https://ohiostatebuckeyes.com/sports/mens-soccer/schedule

and I have posted about the exciting (NOT) home matchup against IUPUI on SEpt. 9 and road game on august 30 at the no lights Western Michigan soccer complex

in the disappearing schedule, it showed home exhibitions against Pitt and Michigan...but I don't recall the dates.

Zips soccer fans desperately want information.    The June 28 renewal date for season tickets is absurd...when they refuse to post the schedule.

St. Francis of PA will play at Akron on September 23

https://sfuathletics.com/sports/mens-soccer/schedule

St. Francis actually had no losses last year.

they finished last year with a record of 7-0-8

they play in the Northeast conference

their season ended on a PK loss to Sacred Heart...

St. Franics (PA) ended last year at 125 in the final RPI rankings

Not renewing mine for football this year. Can't make it to the game against Colgate, so that already puts me at 4 games this year. And the Tuesday before Thanksgiving game will probably be a watch from home one for me as well. No point to buy season tickets for 3 games.

Now that finally this soccer schedule is out. https://gozips.com/sports/mens-soccer/schedule I think I will renew for soccer, 11 home regular season games for $95 is a good deal. Creighton, Xavier, Villanova, and OSU make it worth it

I know that some people think we could do better than playing Ohio State, but.....

With this game being the home opener and played on the Sunday before classes start, this game will be absolutely packed! A win against Ohio State to start the season off would do a lot to boost student attendance throughout the season

For anyone interested in the 2024 rules changes, a pdf of the NCAA Soccer Rule Book can be downloaded from the NCAA website at https://www.ncaapublications.com/p-4692-2024-and-2025-soccer-rules.aspx  Here's a few excerpts, but I suggest looking at the full document. As I read it for men's soccer, a player can play in each period (1st half, 2nd half, 1st OT, 2nd OT), but if subbed out cannot re-enter until the next period.

The following rules changes apply to Division I men's competition only.
Substitutions (Rule 3.4.3). Allows teams six moments to make substitutions
in a game.
Substitutions (Rule 3.4.3). Allows substitutions to occur during any stoppage
of play.
Substitutions (Rule 3.5.1 Exception). Eliminates reentry in the second half
for field players and makes all periods the same (no reentry).

3.4.3 For Division I men only, each team is permitted six substitution moments
during a game. A moment may be used during any stoppage of play, and up
to 11 players per team may be substituted for in each moment per Rule 3.3.
If a team is only substituting players under the exceptions of Rule 3.7, that
shall not count as a moment. If a normal substitution is made at the same
time as one under the exceptions of Rule 3.7, that shall count as a moment.
For postseason overtime games, each team shall retain any unused moments
from regulation play and receive one additional moment. Substitutions
during intervals between periods do not count as a moment.

3.5.1 Field Players. Field players are not permitted to reenter the game in the same
period after being substituted for in the first half, the first overtime period
and the second overtime period. Field players are permitted one reentry into
the game after being substituted for in the second half. Each overtime period
is considered a separate half, so a field player who is substituted for in the first
overtime period may participate in the second overtime period.
First half: no reentry.
Second half: one reentry.
First overtime period: no reentry.

Second overtime period: no reentry.
Exception: For Division I men only, a player who has been substituted for may
not reenter the game in the same period unless it is for one of the exceptions listed in
Rules 3.5.2 or 3.7. This includes overtime, where each 10-minute period is counted
as a separate period with no reentry
