MDZip Posted yesterday at 09:06 PM Report Posted yesterday at 09:06 PM (edited) DePaul and Providence tied 1-1 at the half. A tie would be helpful in this game. And in the continuing theme of Big East schools having ball field infields on their soccer pitches, DePaul does as well. I think only Creighton and Georgetown have equivalent soccer facilities to Akron's in the Big East. And unrelated but still strange ESPN+ is showing four NCAA women's hockey games at the same time on the same screen. Edited yesterday at 09:09 PM by MDZip 1 Quote
MDZip Posted yesterday at 09:26 PM Report Posted yesterday at 09:26 PM Seton Hall up on Creighton 1-0. If Seton Hall wins, might not be the worst thing for the Zips since they tied SHU and one of the tiebreakers is how you did against the highest ranked teams. Both Creighton and the Zips have lost to UConn. Quote

TennZip Posted 23 hours ago Author Report Posted 23 hours ago #24 Cornell at Harvard - 0-0 final Number 13 Georgetown continues to be very impressive...3-0 home win over Xavier. Georgetown now has 19 points and they have clinched the top seed in the conference tournament. They have a 6-0-1 record in the league. Quote
Zips1991 Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago Four teams tied at 13 points, only two of the four can make the conference tournament. Of course, if the Zips win on Friday, they win the division and get the #2 seed automatically. Quote
TennZip Posted 21 hours ago Author Report Posted 21 hours ago VCU gets a 2-1 win over Davidson as @Zips1991 alluded, UConn is now at 13 points as they got a 2-0 win over Butler Providence, Akron and UConn are all 4-2-1 Seton Hall is 3-0-4 those 4 teams tied for 3rd with 13 points Georgetown is first with 19 points Creighton has 14 points 3 huge games on Friday Georgetown at Providence Akron at Creighton UConn at Seton Hall Akron is in tournament with a win. Creighton is in tournament with a tie or win. Quote

A couple of favorable matchups for the Zips in the case that they draw on Friday, as Providence has a tough match and UConn and Seton Hall play each other. Gives the Zips a good chance to make it in with a draw. But obviously we want the division title! Quote

MDZip Posted 20 hours ago Report Posted 20 hours ago I've searched and searched and cannot find the 2025 Men's soccer tiebreakers. Georgetown is in as the one seed. Creighton has 14, Akron, SHU, UConn and Providence all have 13 and St Johns has 10. As we know Akron wins and theyre in. We lost to St Johns and UConn and tied only SHU so I'm not confident of winning any tiebreakers if we're in a group of three or more in that muddle in the middle. Hopefully the Big East will provide some clarity before the games. It is amazing that that with one game left in the season, the Zips have lost only three games in three years in the conference, but have never beaten Providence UConn nor St. John's. There was also kind of a weird quirk in the schedule this year it seemed. It appeared as though we were going to have the same three East opponents every year alternating years. This year Connecticut replaced Providence. I don't know if it's random or not but I think I would have preferred to see Providence. Anyway, go Zips! Quote

Zips1991 Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago Looking at the schedule for the final matchday, there's a fairly straightforward way for Akron to qualify in the top 4 with a draw on Friday. If Akron draws, Georgetown beats Providence, and the UConn-Seton Hall game DOESN'T end in a draw... Akron would get the #4 seed. There's probably other routes that include a tiebreaker but since the tiebreakers are a little unclear, that's the simplest way to qualify with a draw. But let's just win so we don't have to scoreboard watch 😁 Quote
