Creighton has a fairly detailed preview of the game

https://gocreighton.com/news/2026/10/9/-6-mens-soccer-takes-on-12-akron-on-sunday

Creighton's offense has been consistent and prolific this season with 40 goals, 44 assists and 124 points to lead the NCAA in each category.

Creighton has three players in the top-40 in the NCAA in goals scored, led by 10 goals from senior defender Matthew Reed. Angel Lopez is 19th with seven goals, while Ayden Kokoszka ranks 37th with six goals.

Bluejays One of Just Five Undefeated Teams in D1
Creighton is one of just five programs at the D1 level that enter the weekend undefeated, not surprisingly all five at ranked by United Soccer Coaches. SMU holds the top spot at 9-0-1, Indiana is No. 2 at 10-0-2. The Bluejays are ranked No. 6 at 10-0-3, while Missouri State (9-0-2) and Xavier (8-0-2) are No. 8 and No. 18 respectively.

If you look at NCAA stats, Matthew Reed is 2nd in the NCAA with 10 goals.   Creighton is 2nd in NCAA with 3.08 goals per game.

Going into today's slate of NCAA soccer games, Akron is #13 in RPI and Creighton is #17 in RPI.

Georgetown is #1.

Great opportunity for the zips to move back into the RPI top 10.

in case you were wondering, like me:

Athletic Wearable Trackers (GPS Vests)

Function: Many professional (/college) players wear a tight, cropped vest (resembling a sports bra or harness) directly over a base layer or skin.

Technology: These vests hold a small GPS pod between the shoulder blades that tracks distance covered, top speed, heart rate, acceleration, and physical exertion for sports science and performance monitoring.

The ZIPs should be very proud of the grit and toughness shown in the last 37 minutes.

they played very inspired soccer and battled their hearts out

Great game! Maybe I'm looking at it with Zip colored glasses, but I thought we were the better team. Creighton is nowhere as good as Georgetown. We had so many chances to add more goals, sometimes with the net wide open. But we did not finish. We had far more  than Creighton. Last night I talked with coach Ger Coppinger. I told him I thought this would be a great game as I had heard they were really good. He said there was absolutely no fear of CU and we would beat them because our D was stronger. I believe he was right. The only difference is we failed to convert our opportunities as we usually do. This team believes in itself and can go deep in the tournament.

Great outcome given the circumstances.

The lack of discipline in getting red cards in big games is disconcerting though. This definitely cost us the win in the NCAAT last December against St. Louis and definitely could have tonight. I hope Coach Embick recognizes this and has a system of commensurate accountability in place.

Ridiculous red card. Now we have to go to providence and play without Remi

Might not be a popular opinion, but I'd like to see what others can do up top in our attack.
