zzx
After being cut by the Jaguars last year, DE Nordly Capi was signed by the Ravens to their practice squad in October of 2015. Capi was subsequently cut by the Ravens in May of 2016. He was picked up by the Falcons in June. In the Falcons 17-15 win over the Jaguars, their last preseason game, #96 Capi had 5 tackles (3 solo) including a sack and a TFL along with 2 QB hits. This past Sunday, Capi was placed on the Falcons practice squad. Here are some things you may not know about the well traveled Capi. GJGood
Jatavis Brown and Justin March-Lillard both made their NFL regular season career debuts today. Ironically they both did it in the same game as the Chargers were in Kansas City against the Cheifs. Brown finished the day with 1.5 tackles in sporadic playing time. March was the Cheifs leader in tackles with 8.5. Hopefully this is the start of a long and successful careers for both.

Dr Z
Great shot! I would love to know the story behind the taking of the photo. Any info? Looks like multiple people were taking the photo since JB is looking at another camera lens.

wadszip
Glad to see March starting, but to throw a wet blanket on this. I just saw he graded as the worst OLB in the NFL this week, according to Pro Football Focus. Not a huge deal because there were some perennial Pro Bowlers (Brandon Marshall, Antonio Gates and Earl Thomas) also on the "worst of" team in Week 1. Still, I think both he and Jatavis have bright futures ahead of them.

wadszip
So, that makes five in the NFL, right? 1. March 2. Pughsley 3. Brown 4. Capi 5. Coe Yeah, it's not Ohio State, but having five players in the last three years land at least $400,000 a year salaries on an NFL roster has to hold some weight. And if those guys stick, I'm sure a couple more will be added next year.

kreed5120
Practice squad players make about $100K per season if they stay on the squad for the full 17 weeks
Dr Z
Practice squad players earn a minimum of $6,900 per week that they are on the practice squad. That's $117,300 for a seventeen-week season, plus $6,900 per week his team is in the playoffs. That's a significant amount of money, but the lowest-paid player on the 53-man roster earn almost four times as much: $450,000 for a rookie. Those are minimum numbers, though, and players can and often do elect to pay their practice squad players more to keep them from signing with other teams -- sometimes, practice squad players make as much as the rookie minimum salary, to make sure they won't be tempted by another team's offer to sign onto their 53-man roster. The Bucs reportedly paid Howard Jones a rookie minimum salary last season, before signing him to their own 53-man roster. --bucsnation The Patriots for example are one NFL team that consistently goes above and beyond the minimum practice squad rate. At certain points, the Pats have paid their entire practice squad weekly rates above the minimum salary. In 2015, the Rams paid supplemental draft pick OT Isaiah Battle $25,588 per week, which adds up to last year's $435,000 rookie minimum over 17 weeks, the highest amount ever paid to a practice squad player. The upside of the practice squad is that if a player is called up to the 53-man regular roster, either by his own team or by another team, he automatically signs a contract with the $450,000 minimum NFL salary. And because three weeks of that contract are guaranteed, even if that player is released, waived or traded before the three weeks are up, being called up comes with a $79,411 guarantee (3/17th of $450,000). LZIp
The Browns recently cut Scooby Wright and then signed him to the practice squad. I believe I saw they are honoring his rookie contract and is still receiving ~$26,000 per week.

zipsoutsider
Pughsley was one of six signed by the Ravens to Future/reserve contracts, today. "All of those players were on the practice squad at the end of the season, so the Ravens are simply keeping them under contract so they don’t sign anywhere else." 17 hours ago, zzx said: NFL DRAFT DIAMONDS prospect interview Wow.
