BostonZip
So is the turf going in tomorrow then? Or at least some of it? I'd hope they'd have some or most installed by the last open house on Sunday. I'd really like to have a better idea of the views by then...Getting close...turf is the next step:http://www.prograssturf.com/Product/InstallProcess.aspx

I've been going back and fourth to the site and cams to match the step by step they show at the site. This one great process to watch and I wish they had this stuff when I gave up a huge chuck of skin to the Rubber Bowl in 1976 during a summer scrimage we played there in August temperatures in the high 90's that day. tbozeglav
just decided to look back... they must be going with the original plan for the scoreboard. From what was shown in the stadium model presented a couple of months ago, this scoreboard looks nothing like it...http://www.uakron.edu/development/images/t...dium1forweb.jpg

Zipsrifle
Took my tour of the stadium today and oddly enough, not much had changed from when I was there at the spring game. Obviously I didn't go in the press tower which is where I'm assuming the vast majority of work has been focused. Anyway, it was coming along nicely. I like the alternating green grass, but I don't like the color green they chose. It wil still look amazing when it's done! I was very much against anything but brick for holding up the scoreboard as the scoreboard on the model looked terrible but, I have to say I like what they've done. The four posts are very substantial and it looks nothing like a Highschool scoreboard as I feared. The view of the stadium, city and the University from the SE stands is going to be flat out amazing! I was over in that corner (not in the stands) today and could just see the top of Bulger, The Poly-Sci building, Cascade Plaza, and the First National Bank tower downtown. They need to put a camera stand up there for the televised games! The stadium looks bigtime from the outdoor track, very, very nice! Overall, very, very impressed. A lot of happy faces there today, except for my daughter (2 years old)...she was upset when she found out that she couldn't get hot dogs from the concession stands yet and started crying... Ha! Ha!I still think they're going to brick the four post holding up the the scoreboard. That's usually done near the finishing of the installing a scoreboard I've seen done at other schools. 72 Roo
I really don't care for the shades of green that were selected for the turf. One looks green and the other has too much yellow in it. That being said, the stadium has exceeded my wildest dreams and I will have faith that before it is all over the turf will look great too. I like what they've given us so far. No reason to doubt the designers now.

It was raining yesterday and I'd wait for the finish product before making judgment on what it look like while it's being installed. They only just started and the picture I posted below says IMO, it going to look great when completed. Here's a better one.

johnnyzip84
It looks like they're finished laying turf from goal line to goal line!!It's probably been mentioned here before, but the Info isn't the only FBS stadium being opened this fall. The University of Minnesota's TCF Bank Stadium looks to more or less completed as I look at their webcam today.TCF Bank Stadium WebcamThey really did a nice job on theirs as well. It seets 50,000 and really has a classic look to it.

bigham78
The both green shades are much darker/deeper in real life than in the photos. That's what my nephew and brother just told as they stopped by for look yesterday and via emails today told me the pictures could do no justice to what they saw in person. I posted picture of HS stadium under construction here in Metro Atl and that picture is not close to actual green color of the turf they're putting in. Maybe they will lay more pieces along the side still but it seems to me there will still be a good amount of room from the seats to the actual playing field. Maybe it is just the way the photo makes it look, but you figure they would want us to be closer to the action for sheer intimidation and noise. Hilltopper
The both green shades are much darker/deeper in real life than in the photos.I think that after they add the crumb rubber fill, it will darken up and look more uniform.

Compared too many stadiums I've seen you want to have some room and not too little or too much as is the case with some stadiums.

But, it's been pointed out the pictures are not doing the colors any justice and I would pass judgment on the field before it's done. It's currently a work in progress and having seen these type of fields put in live and in person. I'm sure everyone here will love the finished product. Or at least I hope everyone will.
