Stadium Cams Are Live!!!!!

Just got back from spending 13 hours in the Info today and I have to say, none of the pictures, videos, webcam views or descriptions you've seen or read on here do it justice. It is absolutely incredible and all of us are estatic to call it home instead of the Rubber Bowl. Today they were installing more blue pads along the concrete wall in front of the scoreboard and laying bricks by the entrance near the field house. One poor guy started mowing the grass hill under the scoreboard with a push mower until he realized it was too steep and had to use a weedeater. He didn't finish until about 6:00 when the rain came. One thing to note. They forgot to build stairs for the band to get into the stands, so we are one section closer to the scoreboard then shown in the seating charts, with students on both sides and directly above the visiting team locker room. ;) The aluminum seats amplify the sound, the place is going to be LOUD on game days. Another interesting note is that it can get 10-15 degrees warmer than it is at street level, and I'm sure it'll be even hotter with 30 some thousand screaming Zips fans. Not one bad seat in the house, when you're in the upper deck you feel like you're looking straight down at the action. And for all of you who were "worried" about the drainage, we found out at about 6:00 today that it's working just fine. See you September 12th, and DON'T MISS PREGAME!!!
I don't think they forget to build stairs. Most stadiums use portable stairs for bands to get on and off fields at your newer stadiums or stadiums with the high walls.
Let me rephrase, they didn't forget to build them, but they built them in the wrong spot. All 177 of us would have to fight through the front row of the student section to get to the spot we were originally assigned to so they moved us over. Good catch!

GoZips.com reports we now have 6000 season tickets sold! Not that it matters, but I think I'm pretty happy with that number, especially considering we are dealing with a program which has a long and distinguished history of losing. Lol. IMHO, if we put a winning product on the field this year, we should be able to easily hit 10,000 season tickets for next season.

OK, think of it this way. Lets consider a "Full House" to be 25K in the stands. 6K*6games = 36,000 and lets be conservative and add in 2000 single game tickets sold so far and we come up with about 38,000 tickets sold BEFORE students. That is just over 1.5 games that are a "Full House". Factor in the students (2K per game for a total of 12K) and we are looking at 2 games with a "Full House", or about 1/3 of the way to a season of "Full Houses". Personally, I want to see some real "SELLOUTS" with the grass endzone full of students, etc. I think we have a good shot at 3 true "Full House" events to be honest and if we start winning, we may have 6!

Rifle I love your dreams, but 6 sellouts ain't gonna happen :nono: I think we will exceed 7,000 season tickets and sellout Morgan State and IU. If we get on a roll our MAC home opener against OU could be next. But they travel poorly so we have to do it ourselves. Remember, though, we have to be a hot ticket then and that means beating MSU, IU and CMU. Can't has great potential to sellout. Who doesn't want to see us beat the piss out of them in the Info? :screwks: That's it there. Temple and EMU are in November. Only Temple brings mild interest if we both are doing well. Still it is November and the crowds will diminish. If we pull off four games of near capacity attendance I will be thrilled. How about you? I hope I am proven wrong. I'll buy the Roo Brew to celebrate. :CK_brew::champs:

In another thread it was mentioned that UA's enrollment is up 7% this year. I guess our students represent 46 different states and 80 countries! THAT IS IMPRESSIVE!!! Wouldn't it be awesome if we could fly flags around the Info representing all the states and COUNTRIES our students come from?! That would impress the largely ignorant general population who would be visiting simply for a football game!

As much as I hate to say it, I think your comments are well grounded in the facts, but hell, I can dream can't I? I never did get a chance to see the RB sold out, Man I hope I can see the Info packed this season!

Someone posted this link a while ago and I just got around to reading. Listen to this:http://athleticbusiness.com/articles/lexis...picid=136030023

Mr. Yurachek said when the Ohio High School Athletic Association next spring opens bids for the state football championship games — which last year collectively drew 47,458 to Massillon Paul Brown Tiger Stadium and Canton Fawcett Stadium, respectively — Akron will bid.“That’s a way to bring even more high school students onto campus,” Mr. Yurachek said. “Our campus has transformed itself, and this is a recruiting tool for student-athletes and the general student body.”
Now tell me that wouldn't be cool.

The Info is going to be the nicest college stadium in the state and would be an ideal environment for those kids to play in. I would hate to "steal" the games away from Canton and Massillon (which is undeniably how they'd feel - even though the bidding is open), but the Info is soooooo darn beautiful that she couldn't help but add a HUGE "WOW!" factor to the state championship games. Also, big time advertising for the university. I believe they televise the state championship games, don't they?

How much do you guys think stadium capacity plays in being chosen? If almost 50k people show up for this event and Info seats 30, wouldn't that lower our chances? This would be an awesome event though, and definitely good exposure of the stadium.Edit: Nevermind, I just checked wiki and Massillon only seats 16K at most and canton with 22K. In that case....SWEET GO INFO BAYBEH

It would be great to hosts the State HS Championships.A win, win for UofA and City of Akron.I don't see any negatives at all and I hope UofA outbids Canton and Massillon for the games.

If we win the bid for state playoffs the Info will once again show the economic benefit of having a first class facility on campus. Local businesses will benefit and the hospitality industry will start to grow. To my friend Rifle, I saw the RB soldout and it was a great atmosphere. One I will never forget. That being said, a soldout Info will put it to shame. I get chills thinking of the band marching across campus, Exchange street closed and filled with pedestrians, and the campus alive with alumni, tailgating and students. We will see a pride in Akron we never could have imagined.Get ready. It's almost here! :)

Does anyone know what a said "bid" entails? We don't guarantee any $$$, do we? Maybe we do, and then hope to turn a profit? If that's the case, then who is fronting the $$$ for the games to currently be in Massillon & Canton? Stark County Visitors Bureau? Idk, I'd feel kinda bad taking those games away from Massillon & Canton - those poor towns have nothing going for them whatsoever. But, man, the Info is just so freaking gorgeous that we've just gotta show it (& the rest of campus) off to as many folks as possible. And man, if I were a high school kid, I'd die to play in a stadium like the Info. That would have been one of the highlights of my life!

I too somewhat feel that it is appropriate that the state championship games should be played next door to the Hall of Fame. It feels just too.. right. I don't want to take away from that because its just appropriate that state championship games be played at the location of the NFL Hall of Fame. No other state has that, why not use that?Perhaps we'd be able to do what canton and massilon do right now... aka split the championship games between the two venues? Its the only way I could see us hosting state football championship games.

Was Massillon's number before or after they took out the entire South Side seating?
That's the current capacity. Massillon was always around 17,500 and they'd pack in 20+ when they hosted Mckinley every other year. They didn't lose that much seating when they did all the renovations.

Work continues on the fortified stairwell roof structure.
And yet more work on it - I believe this is the titanium and gold inlay going in? (maybe as a precursor to testing the titanium bridge). By the way I was in North Carolina over the weekend and checked out the stadiums at ECU, UNC, NCSU and Duke. Though smaller the Info looks just as nice as any of them and is way better than Wallace Wade Stadium at Duke.

That guy must be installing the hidden missile defense system to protect all of the secret information that resides in "Area Stairwell"
