I saw this in espn's college football section and given the slowness of the board right now thought it might generate an interesting discussion on ZipsNation. My other pick would probably be for Domenik Hixon who had one of the most memorable catches in recent Zips history with his grab in the 2005 MAC Championship and who also now possesses a Super Bowl ring. As far as the unique mascot is concerned, I don't think there's any debate about that one.Those are probably the best examples I was able to think of. What other plays, players, or coaches come to mind for the rest of you when talking Akron football?

JASON TAYLOR named the Face of Akron's program.I was kind of hoping for Heisman to be named for the legendary name recognition we would have received, but Jason is a great choice as well and almost as universally recognized.

Especially when looking at who got selected for some of our MAC brethren (Ball St, CMU, Buffalo) who aren't exactly household names (probably even in their own households).

It's a LITTLE off topic, but did anyone catch that Howard Schnellenberger is the face of TWO programs????? Yup, both Louisville (the Brohm brothers would have been better) and Florida Atlantic selected him as the "face" of their respective programs
