1:04 is Akron. Highly recommend watching VaTech, too. I really wish this game was on PC.

There are roughly 60-75 schools in P4. There are 60-70 G5s in the DI FBS ranks and another 129 FCS members. Non-P4s having any negotiation power in this situation goes against the basic principles of supply & demand. Having any sort of union-style arrangement for G5/FCS would 100% backfire when the P4s realize they're paying collectively paying ~$350m (for one win each) that could be kept in house if they break away entirely. I'm not entirely sure what the solution is for G5/FCS, but creating their own division and expecting anything from the P4s ain't it. I'd much rather see G5/FCS make the move to collectively break away from the NCAA entirely and leave them with the problem child that is the P4. If it's going to become a capitalist market, be on the offensive instead of simply reacting to everything P4s do, which ultimately hurts G5/FCS.

Kent's Defensive Coordinator has left for NDSU just a short time before the season starts. Turmoil continues at PCCC.

In what world does removing themselves from D1/FBS give them more leverage in paydays against P4? The only way for G5s to gain leverage against P4s, outside of the NCAA making a rule that P4s have to pay poaching fees for player & coach acquisitions (which is a pipe dream) is to break away from the NCAA entirely and form their own league. Otherwise, you're stuck at the hip to a large extent.

All but 10-15 programs in the country operate in the negative. Nobody knows where any of this money is coming from.

She's going to be at the hospital with the cafeteria bowls balanced on her foot, rolling the wheelchair back and forth as she prepares to flip the bowls onto her head with her nonbroken extremity. -
Replacing Texas St with LaTech is exactly why the MAC and the Sun Belt need to combine. Create a North Division and South Division to keep travel school-friendly, and possibly shed some dead weight along the way (directional Michigan's minus Western).

James Madison finished 158 in NET under a 1st year HC after their roster was decimated by the Portal. That's pretty damn good. Very valid to believe they will take a pretty sizable leap this year. Arkansas State has a new coach this year, so it's very valid to believe they will take a step backwards. I never said name recognition was a factor in the matchup, just that I'm happy with how this matchup came to fruition. The difference between any of the top 5-6 Sun Belt teams at home isn't that big of a deal because of how NET punishes home opponents. The bigger factor in NET is the road matchup in the Sun Belt Challenge and we have a long ways to go before that becomes a relevant discussion. Quadrant 1: Home 1-30, Neutral 1-50, Away 1-75. Quadrant 2: Home 31-75, Neutral 51-100, Away 76-135. Quadrant 3: Home 76-160, Neutral 101-200, Away 135-240. Quadrant 4: Home 161-353, Neutral 201-353, Away 241-353. Unless you're playing a team receiving Top 25 votes, you're likely facing a Q3 opponent at best at home. The Sun Belt NET does not matter for this home matchup, so give me the best name recognition possible to hopefully put more butts in seats and open some eyes of the general public with a win vs. a team they've heard of. -

Did you know every single team in this challenge has the same NET ranking at this moment for 2025-26? JMU is one of the biggest mid major brands in college athletics at the moment. This is a very, very nice draw. -

Some great match-ups. JMU/Akron Troy/PCCC ODU/Miami OH Ark St/Ohio S Alabama/Toledo Marshall/UMass These conferences matchup so well. Great annual challenge - one of the few things Commish has done well. -

This is the single best matchup for the home game we could have gotten. Joe Akron knows who James Madison is (most likely) and that's more important for the home opponent than NET. -

Looks like we have our first Sun Belt matchup in place - James Madison. Nice home game for the schedule. -

I don't know if this is the right thread for this, but it deserves eyes. Pretty strong finish by Akron in the Director's Cup. This is based on the finishes of every sport throughout the athletic year. -

Texas State to the PAC12. The MAC/Sun Belt Challenge needs to become simply a new conference. -

Holy did he grow. He is definitely 6'5"-6'6". We recruited him at 6'1" or so. -

Wise words from little bro. -
JoeMo's son just committed to Jax State. Interesting.

They're going to automatically have an open roster spot as well since Haliburton will be out for the year. If he can continue to get stronger down low and further develop his outside jumper, he will definitely be a prime candidate for a legitimate NBA contract.
-
Smart. Keep the explanation just above the average Kent intelligence level. It's a contract that allows players to be based in the G League, but go up and down throughout the regular season between the NBA and G League. They are in addition to the 15 player roster, which is why they are ineligible for the playoff roster.

Class of 2026 Offers and Commits

6'5" G/F from St. Ignatius. Love seeing the NEO kid stay home. Much like the Columbus duo, not a whole lot out there about RJ in terms of other offers. -
The dumbest rule in the NBA - outside of their apron salary cap crap - is the banishment of two-way players from the playoff rosters. The dude averaged a double double in the G League as a rookie and wasn't able to participate in the NBA playoffs. Dumb. Nonetheless, the Pacers are 1 win away from securing him a ring.

I posted a week or two ago asking if anyone had heard any assistant coaching news. I was referring to this, because there was apparently an Assistant Coach job opening post on UA's website, and there were rumors that Weigand is back in the Akron Blue & Gold after taking a year off. No idea if his appearance in the Wacky Wednesday photo is confirmation that he's on the staff or just hanging around the program, but I would love it if he were part of the staff. When I did the kids camps years ago, he was one of my favorite coaches. His demeanor is terrific.
