Yes. He's done just enough to improve every year. Just enough to take a team that was the worst in college football history to two bowl in three years and to a division title. What a piece of garbage. Why aren't we a top-25 team right now? Is that so difficult for Bowden?

We're much more likely to regress with a new coach than to continue improving. This is one game against a team that's on another level from the rest of the conference, and we still have an opportunity to win another bowl game.

5 hour drive to get to Louisville, and another 5-hour drive from Louisville to Detroit. Hopefully one awesome weekend trip for whoever can make both games.

I know he has a preferred walk-on offer to OSU. He's also been visiting a few P5 teams. Could be that he or his coaches have expressed disinterest in G5 schools sending him offers? I've seen that happen before with Akron city-series prospects (mostly in the past; Bowden has done an excellent job of mending those ties), where the coaches tell these kids they're too good for the MAC and they either end up riding the bench at a P5 bottom feeder or they play for a lower division. I really hope that's not the case here.

I think that Kato at QB changes things. It's a different offense with the threat of a QB who can scramble. We'll still be big underdogs, but we have 3 extra days of rest on them and they have to completely re-evaluate Akron's film while we can mostly refine our gameplan.

I am a fan of the Akron Zips. And that's why it's so disconcerting to me that so many fans here hold Dambrot to a much higher standard than they're giving Groce. If certain fans were as excited about consistently winning the MAC East and playing in the MAC championship game as they are currently excited about a season where 15 wins would be a pleasant surprise, we might not have struggled with attendance in past seasons.

That's a gigantic "if", though. Four years from now, are we more likely to have multiple tournament wins, or a .500 record and a few CIT games to show for it? Groce has done bother (Ohio, Illinois), and I know which one is more recent. Also, there's the whole issue of multiple players getting arrested at both stops. Why do you think that pattern will stop now?

Does nobody remember how OU hit circus shot after circus shot in 2012? Groce got supremely lucky to get those tournament wins. We're banking the future of Akron Zips basketball on luck, and ignoring the fact that we're just as likely to have bad seasons and early conference tournament exits as we are to win. And this is after the shine has worn off of Groce's coaching and recruiting reputations after failing hardcore at Illinois.

Don't know if anybody saw, but they took a wrecking ball to the Grant Street dorm today. The townhouses are gone, too. Hard to imagine anything but another large dorm building going up in that space.

Ohio hasn't won the MAC since 1968, and they likely blew their chance once again. Of course they're melting down. Next year will be 50 years since they've won a football championship.

Symptoms of youth and inexperience. This team is young due to injuries, but you can see the natural talent shine through on occasion. The coaching staff doesn't get enough credit for both their recruiting and development of talent. It's coming together; slowly and in spurts, but you can see the upward trend.

I believe this is the first time in program history that Akron is bowl eligible before the last game of the season has been played. A win against Kent would also make this the most successful regular season in program history.
