  1. So they tore up a sorry, lame duck UMass program. Big whup. Zips key is pressure on the QB. And not hanging their heads if BG gets a big play or two. Accept the fact that BG will get a couple big splash plays, and focus on the winning the war. We held a good OU offense scoreless for 3 quarters, and suffocated ULL and EMU. If the Zips play solid D, they'll hold BG to 31. And I know the Zips can post 38 or more against a defense like BG's. If Woodson is on...and he has been as of late...his passing opens up the run. And we'll have a nice day on the ground. Between him, Hundley and Alexander, 151 yards is a given. Holding Johnson to less than 399 is tough. I think 400 was a good over/under number. But Coe will swat a few down, Marcus and Brown will be in the backfield plenty, and I think we can do it. There will be no stat-inflating garbage time in this game. Zips 38 BG 31

  2. http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/university-of-akron-soccer-brad-ruhaak-s-journey-from-walk-on-to-captain-surprises-even-his-copley-high-school-coach-1.632625#I am really appreciative of this fine article by Marla Ridenour. I learned a great deal that I did not know. I am not holding my breath ....waiting for Elton Alexander of the PD...to write an article about the zips

  3. For the CSN projection to come to fruition, for Akron to gain a top 4 seeding, they must accomplish these four things: NOT lose the rest of the way; a draw or two can be sustained providing the other criteria are met. Beat Michigan State. Beat UCLA. Win the MAC bid.Accomplish all these four and the Akron Zips will hosts until Kansas City!

  4. I saw that earlier in the week. It is way too early to even speculate about that. There is still a ton of soccer to be played. When the ACC teams start beating up on each other, at least 1 or 2 of them will drop. Zips just have to keep winning one game at a time and they will be well positioned ...come tournament time.

  5. Johnson's been sacked 19 times already this season. That's another stat he leads in.

  6. I'd like to see more about BG's vs Akron's special teams. When the sides of the ball are as evenly matched as they appear to be (on paper), I'd expect the special teams to make a big difference in the game.

  8. What a terrific preview. It might do some of our own posters some good to read it as this guy from BG seems more impressed with us than some of our own people. I do think he got it backwards that the run sets up the pass, I think it has been the other way around. I also think we have the potential to have an explosive offense with Woodson, Lane, Young, and Davis. Davis going to break one of his mid-range passes for a TD, soon. He has been excellent after the catch. Everyone has their antennas up for Lane. This should really open it up for other receivers. If they put a safety over the top on Jerome, Young might make them pay for it.

  12. See 1981Grad... now you are stating facts and addressing actual issues (backed by real numbers). We don't like to do that with our basketball program. We prefer to close our eyes, drink cool aid, and talk about the sweet 16.
