  1. After the Toledo game, I questioned how this team would perform after they got blown out by Toledo and KD questioned the heart of the team since he indicated on the post game show how they were taking poor shots and not playing with any toughness. However, the last 4 games the team has turned it around. We are playing better defense, forcing more turnovers, and stopping the uncontested dribble drives. More importantly, we have improved in the one area I thought was a weakness on this team this year and last year, getting to the foul line and making foul shots. In the first 4 games, we were outshot at the foul line, 96 to 73, In the last 4 games we outshot the opposition 95 to 57 and are shooting around 80% at the foul line. In our last game we had 18 assist. We are no longer seeing guys dribble left, dribble right and shoot a three or a pick and pop three. The ball is going through our big men who draw fouls, our wings are attacking the basket and our three point shots are coming off assist. I think KD has done a good job of getting these guys to play good team ball and stop taking the easy three ball. Further, this is the only year that I can remember where there have not been any complaints from this board about the rotation. KD is playing 7 guys full time and the frosh, Josh and Ivey, are getting about 25 minutes together. Although the post might be premature, I think KD has done a good job turning this team around.

  5. Athlon Sports & Life is ranking Woodson the #58 QB of 2016. The 3nd highest ranked QB in the MAC behind NIU Drew Hare who lands at #44 and CMU Cooper Rush #22. http://athlonsports.com/college-football/college-footballs-pre-spring-1-128-starting-quarterback-rankings-2016 Edit: I incorrectly listed Woodson as #2 QB in the MAC when he is #3.

  6. I've noticed over the last few games Kwan's been taking better shots. His 3's have been good shots; no contested fade-away 3-pointers with 20-seconds left on the shot clock. I credit KD sitting his butt on the bench when he was refusing to play down low.

  8. It's a bummer that UA is now a proof-point in articles like this-- the faux fiscal crisis coverage makes us a really easy example when in actuality the stadium was really not designed and built in an overly extravagant way. In fact, at $60 million and 30K seats, it was built at an institutionally appropriate scale and at a point when something had to happen given the condition of the Rubber Bowl. Unlike CSU, we didn't walk away from a suitable but less than ideal facility in hopes of greater glory and betting big on enhanced revenue. Which is not to diminish the point of the article-- spending on facilities, sports and otherwise, is on an out of control spiral that is needlessly jacking up the cost of a degree and in the end hurting society by making it harder and costlier to get a degree. However, I don't think UA's re-build over the last decade was overblown or extravagant-- it was a corrective from decades of little to no capital investment. The real issue is that Akron is a moderately sized area supporting 2 large public universities, both competing at the same level for nearly all of the same attention and resources.
