  1. You can't use that kind of logic here. You also forgot to mention conference schedules aren't balanced. OSU crossover games that went into their 8-1 division record featured Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Northwesten. Penn State got doormat Purdue, Iowa, and Minnesota.

  2. OSU/UM were 2 of only 5 P5 teams at the time with 1 loss or less. They got those "labels" because of pre-season polls?

  3. No, he's not. He's arguing against Ohio State. Same as you. Nothing more, nothing less. I'm not even OSU fan, so I'll save you that reply. With five P5 conferences and only four playoff spots, playoff expansion that would have given WMU an auto bid is really the only thing that would help a school like Akron.

  5. What strikes me immediately about the Cotton Bowl is that Wisconsin threw to its TE Fumagalli more times in one game than the Zips brilliant OC threw to our TE's in 12 games. Don't anyone buy the B---S--- that the TE is irrelevant in any particular offense. Coaches who are capable of good balanced play calling use all their weapons. Please TB, address this weakness.

  6. I think he declared early for the NFL draft. He was the master of catching the 2 yard swing pass.

  7. I think Western Michigan's football program would disagree with your statement.

  8. Would Arizona (7-8-1) get in over Seattle (10-5-1) because they would be West Division Champs because of a better Division record? College conference champs ignore overall record, so I can only assume that is the preferred method? As much criticism of the college football selection process as their has been, the teams with the best records have still gotten in every single year.

  9. I'm not good at making an evaluation of a high school kid from their highlight video. Too many variables for me. But I did see some quick decision making in a lot of those highlights. That is the most positive thing that stood out to me. I also like his quick release and mechanics, he must have had a good coach early. It seems like he is more than capable in beating man coverage. His school uses a lot of the same formation and personnel that AJ does. He seems to have some ability to beat pressure with his feat. I like that the Zips are focusing on the QB position this offseason, depth is the reason I didn't get to see a Zips bowl game this year. I would like a film of his seven interceptions this year, and read his explanation of each. I wonder how many of those come off the receivers hands? I could probably learn more from that than I can from watching him throw 40 yard td bombs in man coverage. Welcome Alex, Go Zips!

  10. I have my doubts that this has ever happened before but each and every MAC team enters conference play off of a win. SCHOOL MAC OVERALL STREAK EAST DIVISION Akron 0-0 10-3 W3 Ohio 0-0 8-3 W1 Kent State 0-0 8-5 W1 Buffalo 0-0 7-6 W2 Miami 0-0 7-6 W2 Bowling Green 0-0 6-7 W2 WEST DIVISION Central Michigan 0-0 10-3 W2 Ball State 0-0 9-4 W5 Northern Illinois 0-0 8-5 W4 Eastern Michigan 0-0 8-5 W2 Toledo 0-0 7-6 W3 Western Michigan 0-0 4-8 W1

  12. Alex Ramart is certainly entitled to his opinions. I may not agree with some of the things he said in his Hustle Belt interview, but that's ok. I am impressed by his film and I am glad he is coming to Akron. However, the quote about the supportive fan base was the biggest head scratcher for me because, well. . .actual reality? What is interesting is that A-Zip comes back out of the woodwork to take a swipe at ZG01 for stating his opinions. The same A-Zip who started a thread on August 29, 2014 entitled 9100 attendance. The initial post in the thread? A-Zip also opined on the very first page of that thread, which by the way, now spans 29 pages:

  13. I can't think of one NCAA selection commitee in any sport that is not either consciously or subconciously biased towards the big $$ schools, let alone the BCS selection committee. Just look at D1 basketball, soccer mens and womens, hockey and yes football. The number of teams from the P5 leagues are outrageous and the seeding is even worse. At least with track and field and swimming it's totally objective - be the fastest and you go. I've had an opportunity to be around some of the NCAA bigwigs and committee people and they are so sanctimonious and cloistered in their big conference mentality. One of the highlights of this year was going to the NCAA rifle championship banquet and watching the NCAA bigwigs squirm and tut-tut, listening to Bob Golic deliver his politically incorrect keynote speech!

  15. I just don't get you people in NE Ohio. This school has done everything to provide a great game day experience. We have the "First Family" of college football, an amazing staff, new uniforms, a 4 game winning streak, a beautiful stadium, beautiful campus, amazing weather. I came up from Washington DC with some friends (Howard grads) to show off my school and former team…….I was embarrassed……getting my balls busted the whole ride home (even though we kicked the sh*&t out of them on the field). I have no explanation for them….I guess the excuse of the day is now that it was a Thursday game. LOL
