  1. What a great night for Keith! To become the winningest coach in program history and do at your hometown school and Alma mater! I know he is very proud. However I would bet that he is just as proud that virtually every single player that stayed with the program has a degree. Both members of this years senior class(Dog,Kwan) have already graduated and are working towards their Masters degree. After all, thats why we have collegiate athletics, right?

  2. I thought the same. I'm loving the Zips scoring from the baseline on some nice passing. That has been open for two decades. Diggin Ivy's game. Big fan of TDM's motor, his alley-oop shows me he has the potential to entertain. I want more Poke, less Reghi. If Kwan put it in the work on the off-season that was described, it shows. He looks comfortable and effective out there. Show me more offense Zips, I'm loving it!

  3. I think I'll make this one this year. Didn't make it to the last two. Made it to Tennessee and Michigan, so who knows...maybe I'm good luck? If Warren Ball is back with the OL mostly intact from last year, I'd like to see what he can do against a BIG-10 team (not saying they'll win, just interested).

  4. I agree. We might not be able to play through Hughes, at least not at this stage in his career, but I don't view him as a liability when he is out on the court. He's certainly better than Poke.

  5. Great Post. One of these days we'll hopefully break through. I love the OOC football road trips. My wife and I have gotten to see a lot of new places that way, and Madison was no exception. But I have to admit, I've never made this Penn State trip, through all of the times we've played them dating back to 2000 I believe?? I'm planning on finally making this one. Looking forward to it. For those of you who've never been to that area, it's beautiful.

  6. Very little to report. The "interview" was very quick. Looking into renovations. George Van Horne is in charge of it. Everybody (fans, coach, players) deserve upgrade. Contact George if you want to help. I'll giving you the email address, interviewer forgot ghvanhorne@uakron.edu.

  7. It's painful to watch a shellacking like Wisconsin but in addition to the paycheck, the kids love playing at the these venues. It's a nice recruiting tool.

  8. Correct. And several other reasons, which I have stated. Are you trying to say that I am the first sports fan ever to argue that a team shouldn't have been in a playoff because of how pathetically they played in the playoff that they were placed into ? Correct Again. I'm sure it's in the hundreds. We compete against them on numerous fronts, so I love when they fail, and find great amusement when their athletes attract media attention for saying and doing really stupid things. I also love that we just won our 17th straight game against BGSU. I'm an Akron fan. Going back to the topic would be nice. I'd gladly discuss other things about the Suckeyes in another topic. They are only pertinent here, again, because they were the recipient of a playoff spot this year within a system that's considered a joke by many, many people nationwide. Not just Zips fans in Akron Ohio.

  9. I heard the post game where KD indicated that we have got to get better on Defense. However, this is the second home game in a row where our offense looked really good. We are firing on all cylinders when we have Big Dog scoring inside and making some great passes with 8 assist, Jimond scoring 23 with almost all of his points coming on layups, Josh made some clutch 3 pointers in the 4th quarter, and there is no question that Kwan is playing his best basketball right now as a senior. My only problem is when they went with a small lineup with Kwan at center. I think with had 3 guards, Aron Jackson at forward and Kwan at center. It did not work and we lost our 10 point lead. KD indicated that Hughs had a bad back. I still would have Poke playing center because Kwan is just not strong enough for the center position. I thought BG played really well and shot the ball well. I did not think our defense was that bad but that they shot the ball well. There was a new ref I never saw before I he call 3 fouls on Big Dog that were all questionable. Looking forward to Fridays game, go zips!

  10. Wow, the Zips CANNOT play that way against the better teams. BG shot 54% from the field and had only 8 turnovers. It felt like we had 8 turnovers in the first 3 minutes. Some of that was them playing over their heads, but much of it was listless and inattentive defense. We gave up ten points more than they're averaging on the season against lesser competition. Glad to see Ivey's continued development. Him slashing has become a great alternative to kicking it out for the three when Big Dog gets doubled. I sure would like to see the ball in Antino's hands more.

  11. I decided to quote this seperately because it goes to the heart of the matter: EXACTLY! If the CFB were to expand, and continue under the SAME LOGIC IT HAS NOW, the G5 would NEVER GET A SEAT AT THE TABLE. That's why you NEED a criterion of CONFERENCE CHAMPION to be considered. If you give automatic bids to conference champions, or at least the top 4 or top 8 (or however many teams) are selected from the conference champions... that's a sure fire way that G5 teams get a seat at the table, or stand a chance to get at a seat at the table. Now let me ask you: do you seriously ever think thats going to happen? I'll tell you right now that it's not. Because college football is about $$$$ not the sport of football. And until people realize that, and demand it to change (which will never happen) it will continue to be a bottom-line, best $$$ Business. The G5 conferences would never risk losing to a G5 team in a playoff game, how embarrassing would that be!? So they'll continue to use their power and influence to keep the P5 teams out. And those with the most to gain or lose (the Ohio States, Alabamas of the world) will continue to influence how the CFB committee makes it's decisions. Again, because it's a bottom-line, best $$$ business.
