Best quote: "I've been to four finals in seven years with two different teams, both in the MAC. I thought it was time for a new conference with a level playing field and a full deck of cards." All 4 games were vs Akron. 4-0, 4-1, 1-0, and 2-1.2 points

I'll be keeping an eye on that. It's just not good strategy if it happens very often. I think I've seen it way more than I expected, and it's probably due to a 3rd guy being in a convenient position to try to trap him for a turnover. I really don't think any coach ever has a strategy to put 3 defenders on 1 guy with any kind of frequency whatsoever. A strong guy who's a good passer like Big Dog will have open shooters all over the court all night long if he knows 3 guys are headed his way when he catches the ball. If they do it enough times for him to recognize that it's coming, they're being stupid.1 point

And as was pointed out by Darren Rovell - a guy who walked on to the team catches the ball to win the title against a team with more 5-star recruits than anyone else.1 point

I agree that I would very much like to see the competition improve in the MAC, and fknbuflobo's comment is a good one, however it was meant. Buffalo is the only MAC soccer team that plays on a gridiron football field. Akron, BGSU, WMU, and WVU all have soccer stadiums. NIU plays soccer on the field in the center of their track, but it is not crowned like a gridiron field. (AF could be American Football or Association Football...hence, my not using that acronym.) Respect and purpose of any sport starts at home.1 point

Back when Dambrot got started, the local Joyce/Travis/Wood guys pulled us out of the Hipsher malaise and took us to the point of competing for MAC championships. It would be great if this local "Fab 5" could do the same thing on the gridiron!1 point

This actually really disappoints me. I'm getting tired of Akron playing in an incredibly weak conference and Buffalo was the team that seemed to be starting to take the steps to compete.1 point

I agree we will lose a game or 2 along the way that we shouldn't, but I don't feel that it will be tonight. Big Dog should be able to carve this defense up. It will just be a matter of if our shooters can knock down their open looks when they get them, which should be often. CMU is a 1 man wrecking crew offensively. Rayson is averaging a respectable 18 points per game, but that is coming on an inefficient .346 shooting. The focus should be getting the ball out of Keene's hands (easier said than done) and force someone else to beat you.1 point

It really is. This is why I've mentioned in the past that universities shouldn't have athletics budgets. All athletics expenditures should be categorized as advertising expenses, because that's what they really are.1 point

When did I say anything about Auburn? And I don't agree with your logic. You can have a completely loaded team and fail to deliver an undefeated team and unofficial national champiinship. And who sold I or anyone else is giving him a pass? Recognizing that things happen beyond human control is far from giving someone a pass.1 point

It was very fortunate that we had our top 3 guards go stone-cold from 3-point land, yet still emerge with a win. The bulk of our looks were wide-open 3's, and with with Antino/Josh/Noah shooting 40% from 3-land in 2016-17, I'll take that all day long. Kwan's been awesome. Clutch 3-pointers to close out the half, and then the game. I wish he had another year remaining. Tavian gave us a great lift when we needed it. I wish he got a few more minutes, but KD elected not to play him because he'd missed practice due to pink eye. You don't practice, you can't play. Josh wasn't himself Friday night. He had a couple of his fingers taped, and I have to believe there was something wrong with his hand. He couldn't control the ball when dribbling, and couldn't shoot either. Ivey gives us a dimension we haven't had on any other Dambrot team - an athletic slasher that isn't tethered to the bench! Dog is such a good passer...with Ivey slicing to the hole and two 40% 3-point shooters spaces at the 3-line, we're going to run more teams off the floor than we'll struggle. As someone stated earlier - the Big Dog's gotta stay healthy. Kwan too. Does Big Mike have a 10 point game in him? I gotta believe at some point that he breaks out. Looking forward to the CMU game. I think we'll dominate. The entire guard group can't possibly have another outing like Friday.1 point

If WMU achieved nothing this season, the MAC should disband immediately and all member schools drop football altogether. The Broncos enjoyed arguably the best season of all time. The odds are incredibly slim that Akron will ever experience a season like the 2016 Western Michigan Broncos. That's nothing? That is how far out of whack this country is that as a fan, if a team doesn't win it all as absolute undisputed champion that it doesn't mean crap while we give everyone coming up a trophy for outstanding participation. Unbelievable. Pooh poohing a 13-1 season.1 point

Ever since Taylor was first discussed, I looked at how high he stands among the all-time sack leaders, and everyone around him is already in the Hall of Fame. I hope it happens this year, but it should happen very soon.1 point

Really? I seem to recall Robby played in NCAA Tourney matches v Villanova and Indiana, among 12 other games throughout the season and was allowed to contribute. I'm not sure how he "wasn't in the mix".1 point
