Long time Zips fan and ZN.o member Go Zips peacefully passed away tonight as his beloved Zips dispatched hated KSU. Fred was a longtime volunteer assistant with the basketball program dating back to the Bob Huggins era. If anyone ever bled blue and gold it was Fred. He was very opinionated but he truly loved every kid that passed through the program. Fred had a stroke late last year and was sorely missed by the staff and team. He did make it to one final game on February 14th, a win against Toledo. RIP Go Zips!
I just told my wife already this morning that if I could pick a time to go, I'd want it to be right after a victory over Kent. How fitting for such a big fan.
Just staggered in back home after a great night. Thought it was one of the most physical MAC games I have seen in a long time and the Zips really toughed it out. The refs were pretty good. They couldn't call everything in a game like this or there would have been nobody left to play the last 5 minutes.
Other observations...
Big Dog got absolutely mauled all night long.
Ivey, in particular, was terrific. His finest night as a Zip.
Outstanding, spirited crowd and the Zip fans held their own.
Utomi and Poke will do nothing but get better. The future is looking good.
Thirsty Dog Old Leghumper can sneak up on a guy fast.
Beat Buffalo on the Road.
Beat Kent on the Road.
Finish the season 2-3 ???
WTF!!!
I hope this means we play our best in the toughest situations.
On to Cleveland !!!
I didn't know him but that is not of any relevance. We are a true brotherhood here and the loss of any valued member stings quite a bit. He was solid. Prayers to his family
Solid bounce-back game for the Zips. Some key guys had off nights, and others picked up the slack. Zips needed to hit rock bottom to wake up, and the TEAM woke up tonight. Way to respond, Zips! Now take care of business at The Q and sport those Dancin' shoes!! You're the best team in the MAC! Time to strut your stuff!!
I wish the UA employees responsible for the roster's accuracy cared as much about their job as UA Athletics wants Zips football fans to care about the team.
That's about as appropriate a night for Fred to go as he could have picked (and maybe he did). Only met him a few times but he absolutely loved the Zips. RIP GoZips. :-(
Everyone's a winner however only Blue&Gold (wait wrong envelope :-)), actually only 1981grad got all three right. Congrats! Zips win, Big Dog, Noah, Jimond and Emmanuel O. scored 40 to Kwan, Antino, Josh and TDM's 16 and the Zips surprisingly hit only 8 three pointers.
Interesting that Lawrence Olum, who scored the first goal of the 2017 MLS Season for Caleb Porter's Portland Timbers, played collegiate ball for then Head Coach Jared Embick, at Missouri Baptist University.

Thanks @fknbuflobo
The last time we won at Kent was during Zeke's senior season 2012-2013. We had actually beaten Kent five straight times at that point including a coupe at their place and a couple in the MACC. Sneaking suspicion the Zips pull this one out tonight and drop the Flashes to the sixth seed.
