  2. I think Skip's quote was that they need to get rid of him to save the image of the program. If he would have said he may transfer due to not seeing eye-to-eye with Groce we all probably would have agreed.

  4. Bittersweet. I think his potential, talent wise, was quite high. But ultimately he wasn't the best fit for this team and the culture Groce is trying to build. Having two scholarships open is huge in my opinion.

  6. Jimond Ivey was spirited and occasionally showed signs of being frustrated, but he was never a bad teammate requiring the intervention team leaders or the coaching staff. Comparing Ivey to Cotton is like comparing Eddie Haskell to Attila the Hun.

  7. Since we are jonesing for any news, I will tell you that I reviewed the Big 3s (Ivey, Utomi, Parrish) Twitter feeds and there is nothing to report

  8. Any many of us definitely thought it was a possibility throughout the season.

  9. This guy on youtube has a pretty cool channel where he breaks down things relating to businesses. I find it at least entertaining to listen to when I'm doing work around my apartment. Here's one on ESPN. I thought I'd post it here because this conversation was on the ESPN layoffs for awhile, but I think it also can expand to the larger discussion on the over-saturation of sports and it's affect on schools like ours.

  10. I don't see that UA "gave up" on Virshon. What I see is a player whose "character" was not in line with what Groce wants to achieve, the type of issue that causes team dissension and drama that individual talent can't counterbalance. You only needed to watch his interactions on the bench with his teammates and consider Groce's comments from the EMU postgame to see this coming. I wish the kid well wherever he ends up, but this outcome was predictable.

  11. Virshon had some great moments we will always remember with Western game and BG game as well. But I still remember watching him go after Jimond and there was the suspension that was pre-pink eye. When Virshon had a big game, Groce let him do the post-game interviews. I appreciate that Groce is able to make a hard call and put sentiment aside in order to build a team. (If that's how it played out).

  12. Dyer is lazier than George Thomas. Somewhere in his vague memory he remembers Geno Ford and then compares a Kent basketball coach's contract to a University president's contract implying that Kent is smarter than Akron is. Guess what Dyer it's called "negotiation." Wilson gives Akron a few things such as a lower salary, not taking the house, and whatever else and in exchange they give him a 6 month out clause. Akron wasn't in a great bargaining position at the time, and Wilson certainly knew that. He probably could have jacked up his salary request but instead took the out clause. Dyer also did a hatchet job on the Groce hiring.
