From as little as you can tell from a game in the rain against a bad 1-AA program, I'm pretty amped up about the Zips defense. I think the pressure we'll put on the opposing QB's this year is going to lead to a lot of INT's. Feel terrible for DeMarcus Lloyd. Has an early, season-ending injury last season, and gets a medical hardship to play in 2018...works hard in the off-season and earns the starting nod for Game #1...and it lasts 2 plays. The player I'm most excited about is Dre Williams. He's a playmaker. I can't wait to see him get the ball in the open field. Nice to see Deltron Sands healthy after the game. The snaps on FG's and extra points scare me. Hope we shore that up quickly. Justin Sampson seems to have taken a big step forward this year? I'll be interesting to see how effective he is when going up against a Big 10 offensive line. This was a good game for Kato to get his feet wet. Overall I thought he looked ok. He threw some nice deep balls, and ran adequately too. The hot-headedness continues to be a concern. As well as INT's. I know the McGriff drop wasn't his fault, but there were a couple other tosses that a better team would have picked on Saturday. Van Edwards acquitted himself well. Can he do it against a Big10 team though? I saw less of Maverick Wolfley than I'd expected. But when Williams is healthy we're pretty deep at the TE/H-back position. Should be a fun game on Saturday evening. If we can avoid turnovers, and create a few of our own, I think we've got a solid chance for a win.2 points

Selfishly, I wanted to see QB12 get more time but I agree with the coaching staff keeping the 1's offense in so long. I think our D is going to be fine, but with so many new pieces and parts on O, I think the coaches thought they needed to get those guys as many reps as possible to work out the kinks, etc. and I would have to agree that that was a good strategy.2 points

From what I have heard, the game uniforms from Nebraska are not the ones we were planning to wear in the home opener. Those are NEW uniforms being delivered but have yet to arrive, not ones that are stuck in transit on the return trip from Nebraska. Just my 2 cents and I could be totally wrong but that's how I understand it.2 points

I saw Will King play Friday night. He stands out on the high school football field due to his height. He seems really quick and athletic. he could probably use some filling out as he just seemed to have somewhat thin, albeit tall, frame. In the game I attended he didn't make a ton of plays on the ball carrier but the opponent was clearly not running plays in his direction. When he did get a chance to make a play, though, he always successfully did so. King did, however, pick up one personal foul for continuing a tackle that started in bounds but ended up clearly out of bounds. He just didn't disengage soon enough.1 point

I asked myself. This AM if he looked as good as Tommy did against a 1AA team at that point and I am not sure he did. He has the talent, and can certainly have the rock 60+ yards, but I am not sure he has the same smart Tommy did.1 point

Nick Gasser earned Mid-American Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the East Division, this week. Gasser converted two field goals and four extra points. His field goal makes were 24 yards and 30 yards. He also had one punt for 47 yards which landed inside the 20.1 point

I'm fascinated by the confident passes Colin Biros has made this game -- from his left wing, he fires balls across the field onto the toe of open players on the opposite wing. What a passer! Akron maintaining possession against the run of play, but Washington counter very dangerous. Micaletto looking excellent as he subs in. Good weekend for Marco.1 point

Jared, interviewed before the 2nd half restart was totally dejected. We can't compete to get back in this unless we can win first or second balls was his judgement. Just look to figure out the fundamentals. We had one shot on goal the first half, yet still aren't out of it. And early in the half UW transition makes us look sick, and it's nearly 3 nil.1 point

The best thing I can say is, we are so young, and the best of the youth seem to be the attacking wingers, Biros, Petno both freshman set up a couple if balls late in the half, but the finish wasn't there (Gaiffur had an opportunity go high) and a Biros centered a ball that the runner (who??) was late to. UW has a very good team -- definitely top-10 in my opinion, but we don't appear on their level, physically or maturity wise.1 point

Two early goals for the UW Huskies. 12:00 minutes in! Our back line is slower and poorly organized than I've seen since well before the Porter era. I don't know what can be done. We were pressuring early and had some runs, but Washington is making us look statuesque in their run backs. Skye almost pulled one back at the 16 min. mark, but off the post and saved on the line. No luck to match a clear deficit of athleticism. Need to get Egbo in space, but we have trouble getting our lanes open to create trouble. Mohammed departs. He seems a no-show physically on the pitch. All Washington, as they break the defense and SHOULD have had a third! Not sure how much more I can watch... Announcers forced to say "Two zero is the worst lead in football" May not be for long the way this is going. Well, the last time I recall these teams playing, UW won in Portland 4-0.1 point

They said uniforms were locked somewhere in Wisconsin..."supply chain issues." My comments about Nelson were early on, when we ended the drive with a FG and he got the taunting penalty. This is not his first such penalty. The fumble in the backfield was on him, IMHO. He has a rocket of an arm and decisio-making is OK, but accuracy still needs work. I have an issue with the quantity of personal fouls he has racked up plus the report of him fighting in practice. Those are all selfish choices. Once...OK...give a kid a chance to grow up. He has had multiple if those type of penalties. That's not leadership. We were bitten by Woodson's selfishness and really left without a chance to win at the end of the season. I would hate to see the Zips get bit by the selfishness of another QB. If he cannot grow up, let's bench him and see if Ramart can handle himself with more maturity.1 point

Man we needed them to get to 5-6 to force this game in week 14. I still want this game because I want the Zips to drag home a Big-10 scalp.1 point

Not an overly impressive showing by the offense. FG unit is still going to give us heartburn. Not a very good test if the D, but they more than got the job done with bvb the first team unit. Ramart needs more live reps. Let's hope he sees them throughout the season and not just in garbage time.1 point

Bobby Bowden just told ESPN announcers, "I wish they'd 0lay their other QB. I've heard he's quite good." Lol1 point

So ISU's schedule is Iowa, Oklahoma, Akron, TCU. That's us sandwiched between some TOUGH games. Good time to play them, IMO.0 points

Allen is too slow and I think he is redshirting. He could be a force if he can gain some speed. Kasay....not much to say except he was in the stands last game. He hadn’t done anything in the first two games and at this point I don’t expect him to do anything even if he is back on the field. Let #18 play over Kasay. I think enough is said there. Not sure what is going on with Skye - isn’t playing well.......but that being said he isn’t the only one not playing well that is for sure.0 points
