  3. There have been many ups and downs the last two years and I have tried to keep an optimistic and hopeful through them all, but today is my low in the last two years. Up 9 at half to losing by 17 fresh on the heels of a putrid performance at Central, coupled with the Gueye incident, and my faith in the program is at a recent low. Listening to that game and hearing about the body language of the team when things went south in the second half, I am damn fed up. I joked about them taking the bus to DeKalb after the CMU loss instead of flying. They can walk home from DeKalb.

  4. A blurb from an article on Gueye on his leaving SC- "Gueye, a Senegal native, was used sparingly over his two-year career. He appeared in 45 games, recording a total of 11 points and 38 rebounds. After logging 13 minutes at Tennessee on Feb. 13, Gueye didn’t play again in 2017-18." I am not going to lose sleep over his loss.

  6. If you need a reason why this team is playing so poorly, just look at the 3 point stats. We are 26th in the nation for 3 point attempts. But we are 217th in 3 point percentage makes. If you just look at just the MAC stats, we would be dead last in the country on 3 point field goal percentage. WE love to take 3 point attempts but cannot make them at a high percentage. This was the same problem last year. Different players, same problem. One of the problems is that we do not have a center who like to take shots in the paint. We just have more guys taking 3 ball shots. Loren Jackson has been terrible shooting the 3 ball and is 3 for 25. Hopefully, when they get home this percentage will improve. If not, this will be a long season. Groce always indicates that his players are great shooters. It is time to prove it or work on a different offense that does more than shoot 3 balls.

  7. Not sure we can pencil any team as a win right now. Between the way the Zips are playing and the crazy nature of MAC, there's no certainty (other maybe than Buffalo's superiority). I'm really hoping this is just a slump the Zips will recover from, but I am skeptical. It's going to get tougher dragging my old tired @$$ from the deck to the JAR in the cold weather if they don't!

  8. Not that the facts matter, but here's a quote from the ABJ article- "According to the police report, Treadwell assaulted King during an altercation at her home on Spicer Street about 4 a.m. Saturday. The assault left King, 23, with “apparent minor” injuries. Police took photographs of the injuries..." I think we both agree Gueye should be gone. Let's just leave it that.

  9. Jeopardy does not entirely depend on the swearing of witnesses but can attach on a plea. In depends on the terms of the plea and the elements of the offenses at issue. Plenty real here. Female victims of domestic and related violence always report it to the authorities. That's why the system works so well.

  11. Either the basketball IQ on this team is low, or these guys just don't have the heart to compete at a high level. Boxing out is ignored, offensive players think they're on the playground with the ability to body defenders and muscle their way to the basket, fouling people on 3 point attempts, LCJ doesn't know he's 5'8" sometimes and throws up crap that's easily blocked. You can see what Groce is trying to do. The intensity on defense and overall hustle is there at times, the ball movement is spotty yet flashes of greatness are seen. However, I don't think the players are fully bought in, or if they have bought in, I don't think they have the mental game (at least not yet) to carry out the game plan. There are a lot of holes and mental lapses. This program was left a heaping pile of crap on top of a strong foundation. That foundation is currently corroding with the crap that still sits on it. I have the utmost faith in Groce - that has not wavered. Right the ship and be ready for March.

  12. I would have penciled this in as a win 2-3 weeks ago. Now Akron's play has gone to crap while EMU is now starting to look like the team that was picked to win the MAC West. If we drop this we're 1-3 with 2 games still left against Buffalo.

  13. This one worries me with the poor play of the Zips bigs. Could make for a long night. I am concerned they'll get killed down low on defense and will opt for hoisting threes on offense (which hasn't gone well).

  14. This is what I saw as well. When they went cold offensively in the 2nd half they started to look like they didn't want to be on the court. NIU got every 50/50 ball plus some they had no business getting. NIU played with a lot of confidence and hustle. We quit.

  15. I really want to say that the shooting is off right now and will come around but I can't. After witnessing a couple guys absolutely doggin' it getting back on D I turned the game off to watch BG/CMU. What I really saw in the Zips today is a team that seemed to be resigned to their fate and in a state of regression.

  17. Gotta come out of halftime playing man defense. We come out in 1-3-1 zone and give up quick buckets. Now getting steam rolled.

  18. Groce needs to work on his half time speech. For the second game in a row we come out flat in the second half and lose the lead. I have seen more Roscoe this game than any other game. Glad to see Sayles look like he wants the ball and going to the hoop. Utomi cannot buy a 3.

  19. There is no requirement that we have to play an FCS opponent. We don't have one on our schedule this coming season. If we need the money bad enough that we're willing to sacrifice a home game for it let's at least make it worth our while.

  20. I really hope that idea of playing at Chattanooga was just something that was tossed out as an idea, but then quickly scrapped. You only play 12 regular season games and 4 OOC games. If we're that pressed for cash, just schedule (insert P5 school here) and collect the ~$1.3 million. Pay Chattanooga their $300k and use the other $1 million to pay down debt on Infocision.
