  2. This thread in inane. Some of you are serious trolls. You set up threads and then attack those who post. You don't add anything productive to the conversation.

  3. If the point is money, every school that loses money should get out. I think that would leave 15 teams. My point is, there is more value than the money. Why can't schools like ours make those points? Why can't we get together and promote the unseen value of college athletics? What is everyone else's point?

  4. Thanks for posting this and welcome to ZipsNation. Can't get enough of this kind of stuff especially in the vast desert of UA sports right now.

  5. For me, it's very simple. When the medical EXPERTS, those with education and experience, tell me to do something, I do it. If they want to give me advice on replacing brakes or how to bale a cake, no thanks. If they want to dip into my area of expertise and give advice, no thanks. They want to give me advice from their area of expertise as to how to avoid getting or spreading a pandemic virus, I'm taking it over the advice of angry internet posters. I don't care what some of the doctors may have said months ago at the start of the epidemic. It's quite easy to wear a mask and maintain social distance and I'd rather err on the side of caution. You can't reverse the time to wear it after Aunt Tilly drops dead. Oh, and spare me the political talk. I'm pretty darn conservative.

  6. Majority of the MAC is refusing to publicize, so I don't know. Many across the country have. No nerve struck - just pointing out the fact that many subsidize athletics (with students doing most of it) in exchange for our entertainment. There is no surplus anybody is benefiting from (at least in G5) by playing. If there was, our program wouldn't be thrown under the bus constantly right now.

  7. Many players have contracted the virus. I don't believe any have "suffered" more than they would with the common flu. Lets be clear here. Akron football and many other football programs operate at a loss. The majority of the program funding comes from regulars students who pay tuition. I don't have a problem with it because I love athletics, but have no money (profit) to gain by playing football.. Even the Big 10 schools are going to lose a crap ton of money by playing. Wisconsin is projecting a 60-70mm loss if only conference games are played. College football gives many students a chance to get an education for free when they otherwise wouldn't and even become pro and change their family fortunes for generations to come. Enough with the "sacrificing athletes for money" bs. Many like to try to speak for the players when in reality they have no idea what they want. If given the choice to keep your scholly and enhance chances to go pro and play the game you love vs minor chance of contracting a virus with an incredibly minimal chance of causing death for somebody in that age range, I know what I'd pick.

  8. Thalidomide was prevented from being used in the US because of the Peer-Review process of safety data by the FDA by a single young doctor assigned to the case, and wh wasn't impressed by the salesmen and said they didn't have any safety data to back up their claims for it's use on pregnant women...and she was right. Dr. Francis Kelsey is a forgotten American Hero.

  10. I'm old enough to remember when doctors said menthol cigarettes were good for you, and thalidomide was a great way to cure morning sickness. Even doctors get a little more educated over time.
