Earlier this week (before the Anis Smajlovic commitment), top Drawer soccer ranked the zips 2022 recruiting class as 8th best in the country. 2 very highly rated players. Akron Commitments: F Stefan Dobrijevic (Internationals SC – No. 83), D Levi Stephens (Internationals SC – No. 84) Only two commitments have reported their decision to join Akron. But with both ranked in the Top 100, it propels Akron to this spot.

This is the zips 3rd recruit for 2022. However, I can't find a topic.....for 2022. I will post this here and I will go back and look for the first 2 recruits Welcome to Anis. PS.....we love top goal scorers !!!

Some people looking at the roster can't see any hope. I don't think they realize how little it takes to elevate in the MAC. Our very young OL managed to run block pretty well last year. A year of conditioning and maturity along with a QB delivering the ball a little quicker could produce putting points on the board and keeping the D on the sidelines. I am perplexed that we aren't hearing anything about Irons. I expect him to push Kato. It looks like we shored up the D. Looking at the roster won't tell the story. We just need to see come September. In the MAC with a roster full of average talent, all you need to be successful is to add in a few exceptionable players. Time will tell if a few exceptions will show up for the Zips this fall.

I would add Malott as also not showing up on the roster. I remember some discussions that he would not be a Zip and then he was coming back as possibly a walk on. However, since he showed up on the early signing period list and in Coach Arth's details of players, I have to believe he was originally offered and accepted a scholly. I hope both Proffitt and Malott get on the roster. I like to see a minimum of 2 OL and DL first year(freshman) recruits each year.

I think it's very clear where this is going and there will be no fans at football or basketball. So ... my point is that it's hard to market the sport or for a fan to get excited when the unvaccinated have chosen to ruin life for everyone.

Of course we were all rooting for him. Not his best race obviously but he still has the bronze from 2016. So in the last seven years the Zips have had three athletes and one bronze in the Olympics, a significant player in the World Cup, an inductee into the pro football Hall of Fame and an Oscar winner. Not a bad haul :-)

Looks like they've picked up where they left off (with a quarterback running for his life).
