  3. Top Drawer Soccer says that the Zips have added a new recruit for 2024 https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/sima-recruiting-roundup:-july-24-30_aid52277 M Jack Roman (Cleveland Force FC) committed to Akron. On July 4, Top Drawer soccer included Jack Roman on their top 11 team from the ECNL playoffs M Jack Roman, Cleveland Force 06 – After Cleveland lost the group opener against MVLA, the team rallied with back-to-back wins to capture first place. Roman is a hard worker in the midfield, who connected play well. He added a goal-scoring punch from the midfield as well.

  5. Sorry, I have no knowledge of Brookhart’s situation. We are one of the last teams in the MAC to have the online roster updated. The starting QB of every team is usually under scrutiny for something. Irons gave us the best chance to win last year and if he’s taken another step forward in his decision making, will probably give us the best chance to win this year. What’s not up for debate is Irons being described as a “mediocre” quarterback when he was voted 3rd team All-MAC while missing two full games and parts of others. If someone has already beaten him out this offseason, then that should mean Akron will have two of the better quarterbacks in the MAC. While preseason publications should be taken with a grain a salt, every publication I’ve read has a selection of either Rourke, Finn, Gabbert, Lombardi, or Irons as the top quarterbacks in the MAC. I’ve also watched enough MAC football to know those predictions are solid, unless a quarterback comes out of the blue that has yet to play much. I feel good after Undercuffler after the spring game. Both Bullock and Wasel have plenty of potential, but have yet to play much (or at all in Wasel’s case) at the FBS level.

  6. I posted a table in the "Where is all the recruiting money coming from?" thread to suggest that, compared to other MAC programs, the Zips have scrimped on staff to be able to help fund an obviously larger recruiting budget.* The same table might also at least partially explain the lack of info posting by the team that some of you are complaining about. IMHO, this staff is really thin. We could use, at a minimum, a graduate assistant or two with excellent computer skills. * The good news is at least the coaches realize we need better players to improve. If left to there own devices, academic types would increase the football staff with a variety of vice presidents each in charge of a different really important thing like concession stand signage or ticket taker uniforms.

  7. I move to close this thread down until the season begins. Reason: Tired of getting heart attacks seeing this at the top of the page and thinking he's been injured or entered the portal.
