Those are three different elephants. Let's focus on the athletic one. I believe the athletic department should benefit the athletes students alumni fans and general community around Akron. Giving the taxpayers of Ohio a good gameday experience could make them believe their hard earned money being spent on public universities is a good thing. A paved highway makes taxpayers feel good. A pothole filled highway makes taxpayers bitter. The old scoreboard was a pothole filled highway.

There is a new high definition ribbon board being installed at the base of the upperdeck on the east grandstand in addition to the new main board. This and the size of the main board will open up much more in the way of local sponsorship/advertising. BTW, all of this was paid for by Learfield. Around $1 million.

I'm also going w/ a NCAAT win.

I vote winning an NCAA Tourney game. Having a player drafted means little for the program (unfortunately). For proof look at Weber St w/ Damian Lillard, Leigh w/ CJ McCollum, Davidson w/ Curry, etc etc..

But those universities rank much higher than UA in the media guides. The next major investment campaign for UA must be in upgrading the faculty in order to draw in more students and research dollars. Wow! 84 ft is ~double (if not more) what the current video board is. The new board will essentially take up the real estate that is currently occupied by 1990s advertisement pieces. Here is the comparison... This coupled with better sound management (we need to let the band play more instead of obnoxiously blaring music constantly) will be a big boost to the gameday experience. There is a legitimate financial commitment being made by a select group of donors to Akron Athletics. Very encouraging.

It's not the conference. It's much more complicated and beyond the MAC.

Aug. 31 vs. Akron – Archie Griffin 50th Anniversary Heisman Celebration and Faculty & Staff Appreciation WMU plays there the following Saturday then Marshall is there on 9/21.. We could make it a MACtion/Sunbelt contest to see who loses the least worstly.
