They need to win because they need some momentum with the program. If it's only about making money, the athletes students alumni fans and general community around Akron are not being well served by a department at a state run university.
I haven't been less interested in college football starting in forever, but I don't think I'm the target audience anymore. The target audience has gone from football fans to degenerate gamblers and drunks.
As many know I have Wake Forest season tickets. This will be the last year I buy them before the early known starting times are released. So far, four of their six home games are starting at 6:30 or later. This is just terrible. I'm not interested in sitting in a college football stadium at 11 PM watching Wake Forest vs Cal so the conferences can pocket some extra cash by selling gambling app advertisements. I don't mind one or two 7PM starts, but this is ridiculous. There is a good chance I've flushed at least $600 of the $1,200 I spend on tickets down the drain, but it won't happen next year. Here is the catch. I think that as long as there is TV money flowing in, they don't care about my game experience or money for that matter. College football has quickly been ruined.
They have turned the buzz of college football anticipation into a quiet hum matches only by those who aren't good at singing in church.
