  1. Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere on here yet but I contacted the ticket office to ask when scarves for season ticket holders will be available. They told me they'll be available at the match on September 8 against Cornell as that's the match where they're honoring Doc Nash.

  3. Georgia I think is a decent chunk more than we were getting ~15 years ago. The others might be only slightly higher. I feel there is a several reasons for this. One is there are just simply more FBS teams compared to 15 years ago, 18 to be exact. Secondly, more and more G5 schools are trying to schedule 2 or in some cases 3 P5 paycheck games per year. 15 years ago the standard was for a G5 to only schedule 1 body bag game per season. Lastly, P4 conferences have gone from 8 conference games to 9 meaning they have 1 less OOC game per year to schedule. All of this has led to supply exceeding demand which has given the P4 programs more bargaining power when it comes time to negotiate these deals with the G5. A program like Georgia can offer Akron $1.5 million and if we reject it by asking for $2 million they will just laugh, hang up the phone, and call Kent or whoever else instead.

  5. Should be a win in front of a respectable crowd. If we beat Dayton, 3-0, I think we beat Army 4-0. Go Zips! Also, I'm a bit disappointed that the Gozips.com men's soccer game previews this season have not (yet) featured all-time series data as it relates to current opponents. I ALWAYS read them for that reason, and I think it is a particularly interesting way to celebrate the tradition and dominance of our program. I hope this gets fixed going forward.

  6. Army comes to campus tomorrow (August 24) for a 7 pm kickoff. I don't want to say any game should be easy, especially this early in the season, but Army hasn't made the NCAA Tournament since 1996. They won 7 games last year, after winning 4 games in 2024 and 3 games in 2023. The weather forecast looks perfect for tomorrow and it's the first day of classes so it could be a decent crowd.

  8. I assume this is the successor to the Hustlebelt, which went out of business in the spring. If that's the case these guys are all part-time writers who do this more as a hobby or side gig. I'm not really trying to knock them as any publicity the MAC can get the better, but I wouldn't treat anything as deep level investigative journalism.

  10. I am not arguing with you, but this is what I was able to turn up: 2020: Old Dominion canceled its season due to Covid. 2021: ODU Redshirt (freshman) year 2022: Albany Season 1 used 2023: Albany Season 2 used 2024: Miami Season 3 used 2025: North Texas medical waiver obtained (kind of like redshirting) 2026: Akron Season 4 to be used Did he not obtain a medical waiver at UNT? Otherwise, it seems he is eligible. Does anyone have any inside information that alters this?

  11. It was well-known that it was his sixth year, which is highly unusual but apparently he was cleared. What has changed?

  12. I was poking around using AI (Gemini) to inquire why he might be ineligible, trying out different hypotheses as to why, and nothing came up. Specifically, why would he be ineligible (if in fact he is ineligible)?

  18. I agree there is uproar, but not enough for anyone to do ANYTHING. I don't think there is a single body tied to the schools that is discussing what happens next. As the season approaches, I have no enthusiasm for college football. I'm looking forward to the Zips game at Wake Forest, but that is largely because I'll see some people I know there. It certainly isn't the football. I didn't even buy Wake Forest season tickets this year for the first time in 18 years. Their first two games are on Thursday and Friday nights respectively. I don't care that the Friday game is against Miami and they are coming off of a trip to the championship game. I've seen #1 teams play there before and I don't think I'm missing much. Another game is on Halloween, but I'll be in Ohio for a wedding. We'll see how I feel next year, but I think I'm just about done with college football. It's amazing how much it has been destroyed in the past 5-6 years.
