that's really not going to be possible... i'll be checking in here to keep an eye on the game
-
does anybody know of a gametracker or something else online that i could track the nevada game on? i'm out on the west coast for break so obviously won't be at the jar
-
this is all extremely disappointing, but as frustrating as it is we all have to remember that it's the team that needs the crowd especially to keep our home win streak alive against nevada.

what worries me is them saying that body painted people fall under the "unless otherwise noted" section because it's up to the opinion of who ever is up at the top letting people in. basically, things were brought up at the meeting, but not really resolved. as long as i can get a seat in the game, i'm not going to worry about it. i signed the contract knowing i wasn't going to be sitting down with the rowdies the majority of the time.also, the thing about more promotions. it would be nice to include anyone that swipes in on the promotions and not just the people sitting on the floor, because there are several rowdy members that will not be sitting below.

hey...keep up the good work. of course there are going to be a few wrinkles that are going to be ironed out, but i sure hope you don't take the suggestions out here in a negative way (mine at least) and i don't think that you are. we do need more people there and personally i am at a loss at how to get them there. i go to every game i can and bring as many people as possible. i think that's all i can really do.

Question about Akron denying YSU into the MAC?
zippyrifle32 replied to Ryno aka Menace's topic in Akron Zips Football
still here? why? -
i think that letting fans be creative in their way of expressing school spirit (how crazy they come decked out to the game) is important and looks a lot better than everyone just wearing the same shirt. i see where the idea is coming from...it's just that personally i'd rather see a whole section with people wearing homemade roo heads and body paint. still, if someone shows up with a suckeye shirt on tell him to get the F*** out. no excuses. also, if it is mandatory to wear the shirts to make us look uniform, then why are people allowed to wear things over their shirts?...such as blazers. what then would stop me from putting something else over my shirt in the section, like an akron sweatshirt? i'm not saying that the people that wear the blazers should be forced to remove them (because that's become like their trademark), but to say we want uniform...then it should be uniform. as long as people are in the section cheering loud and wearing akron gear, i think the rules should be flexible. the idea of having all of the same shirt is a good one, but a little unrealistic. if there were special shirts for a certian game (like the can't one last year) then hand out those shirts at the game. everyone would be wearing them, you'd get the desired effect, and you'd still leave some flexibility for the rules for other games. that's just my suggestion and nothing more.

UA vs. Winston-Salem Game Predictions
zippyrifle32 replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
yeah, when you get the shirts you have to sign a contract saying that you have to wear them, always stand and be loud, and that you will be classy fans. i find it a bit ridiculous because there are so many other things i am required to wear that sometimes i don't go home between class, practice, then a game. on top of that, it has to be THIS YEAR'S shirt, so you can't even get by with last years. by signing the contract, it also means that there aren't going to be seeing any of the half-naked, fully-painted fans down below. i dunno...i signed the paper with the understanding that i won't get to stand down below for a majority of the games. -
New Stadium: What should it look like?
zippyrifle32 replied to RowdyZip's topic in Akron Zips Football
then why are we still waiting to build? i was told that we were waiting 1. for land and 2. for more money so they can design and build something decent. well, whatever they decide upon someone is going to be upset in one way or another. it will be impossible to please everyone in a matter as big as this. (but seriously...we can do better than a pos rip off of ysu) -
at our wirc championship banquet we had to do school cheers. of course we did ak-rowdy! however, morehead easily topped us. the girls chanted morehead! and the guys replied yes please!

yeah! go ducks...er beavs!... anyways...aren't we all forgetting the important point?

New Stadium: What should it look like?
zippyrifle32 replied to RowdyZip's topic in Akron Zips Football
why waste our time with something small. we're going to be dishing out a lot of money to build the damn thing, and if we want to expand our athletic department (like i know mack does) then we're going to have to build for the future. i think we'd be spending more money down the road to try to expand it (not to mention the hassle of construction, etc.). you can throw attendance at us all you want, but it's still not going to make your crap high school stadium look any better. bring the stadium on campus and attendance will go up. you can say that the rb is crappy, but the feel of sitting there (not the literal splinters in the ass) is a lot more cozy and makes me at least feel more into the game than open bleachers at dix. we're building something new, no need to waste time or money looking at crap. i'm not saying we need to build a 50,000 stadium, but starting as small as you suggest is a horrible idea. -
hey, i say things are going to be better because they actually look like a better team than last year. two of their losses were heartbreakers...one point losses. that being said, i'm not saying that they'll win conference and deserve a ton of respect, i'm saying that they won't be a walk in the park like many teams expect. a few of the teams that come in thinking that will have it bite them in the ass.

New Stadium: What should it look like?
zippyrifle32 replied to RowdyZip's topic in Akron Zips Football
how about this: seriously, if we're going to build a new stadium then it should at least look like a college stadium. and then you say bowl it...which would make it nothing like what your picture is...so what is your point? -
i went. it we won by 1. acutally with 5 seconds left we were up by 4, and the buzzer beating 3 went in. still a win is a win. it wasn't pretty all the way through. the zips had over 20 turnovers, which is probably twice as many as lehigh. there was like a 7 min stretch at the beginning of the second half that both teams combined scored like 10 points (yawn). towards the end, niki mccoy found her groove and had 10 or 12 second half points. our free throws were freaking amazing! 20/22 (90%), and that's what really kept us in there, especially down the stretch. the frosh rianna is a beast inside. lehigh has some really good 3-point shooters, and i know #12 was getting really frustrated by lauren stephenson. that girl is nothing but hustle and is really fun to watch. lady zips need to take care of the ball better, and personally i'd like to see them push up the floor more. to me, it seems like they depend on their point guard too much. today they could beat lehigh down the floor so easily, but they'd stop and wait for the point to get the ball. also, we tend to panic when we're pressed. we know the trap is coming, and sometimes we still fall for it, then freeze (and turn over). finally, we need to shoot more. we had too many shots that were thrown up because the shot clock was winding down, and we should never have a turnover because of the shot clock. that's just my opinion. i didn't sit with the rowdies, but they were small and loud. "wooden water boy!" i preferred my seat by the zips bench so i could clearly hear how pissed off kest was with play...lol. overall the ladys are playing much better this year, and i think we're going to surprise a few of teams in the mac.

i like the look of seating all the way around like autzen stadium (oregon). it seats 41,698 right now, but i believe they are planning an expansion on it.i found this site that had pics and stats of stadiums, sorted by conference.click here -
osu lose every game that they play...(i know that it's probably not going to happen, but i can dream can't i?)
-
these may fall under the unappropriate category but my two favorites are"nuts and bolts! nuts and bolts! we go screwed!"and"get off your knees ref! you're blowing the game!"
-
we beat oral roberts...oral roberts beat (then) #3 kansas...(then) #12 kansas beat (then) #1 florida...therefore akron should be #1!!!
-
my favorite was AGNES! AGNES SIT DOWN!...but i just liked shouting the name agnes. i went to most of the women's games last year, and this was by far the loudest women's game i've been to. yeah we lost by about 20 to pitt, but come mac time i see us moving up from the bottom with a few w's. i know a supportive student section will only help and pump up the ladies. it's 7:11 and AGNES! i mean

Rifle Team Beats Morehead to Stay Undefeated
zippyrifle32 replied to Zipsrifle's topic in Other Sports
rifle is an olympic sport in the summer games and biathlon is acutally under skiing for the winter games. on the men's side there are three events and on the women's side there are two events. after college, some people are able to join the army and get into the army marksmanship unit which is the closest thing to becoming a professional shooter as you're going to get. other national level shooters head out to the olympic training center in colorado springs to live and train for the olympics. most rifle shooters though, graduate and go on with careers and their lives. some stick around the sport by shooting matches at their own expense or coaching juniors. thanks for the support, and in addition to us being undefeated, our freshman marybeth brewer has been invited to a national level air rifle camp out at the otc. after the camp she will have the opportunity to shoot a selection match with a chance to go to the pan am games. it's a very exciting time to be a zips shooter. -
maybe they just figured that it would be easier for people to come in the afternoon. like more family friendly.
-
yeah, but don't be decieved by oregon state being in the pac-10. they suck!
