Not what I was trying to insinuate. I was saying this is going to be a long-drawn-out process and anyone that expected a quick resolution on the makeup of our roster is going to be in for a surprise.

I feel a lot of people are just looking for things to talk as there are a lot of unanswered questions right now and really no current solutions. The lack of buzz on the recruiting trail leads me to believe there is a good chance we'll still be looking to add key pieces in June or July.

I say the same thing when people try grading our recruiting classes solely on the number of NEO players we get or don't get.. Whether it's players or coaches, I want the best talent we can get. It doesn't matter to me if they are from Akron or from the opposite side of the country.

I imagine some people are just fed up with the system and not the university or hire itself. Investing so much for so long only to see who you thought was your golden goose bolt town. I'm not really in a position to judge how others spend their money since I'm not cutting the university 5 or even 4 figure checks for that matter. Maybe one day I will be in a position that I can.

Unless I missed someone, Jimmy Hall is the only other MAC player.

For 2018 and beyond recruits, I'd say no unless Groce feels that are a player worth continuing to pursue. I haven't seen tape of Gavin and have no idea what type of player, but he is drawing interest from above average to very great mid-majors so he may very well continue to pursue him.

His offer list is alright. It's more on par with 3* prospect instead of 4* so the rating agencies might just be grading him higher than what D1 teams are currently.

If we can't get 2,000 people to show up to a 6PM Tuesday game (I'm talking actual butts in the seats) when the date is picked months in advance and the time ~14 days in advance, I'm not sure why anyone would expect we'd have hundreds of people show up to a meet and greet on 24 hours notice and that's assuming you follow Zips social media and actually saw it in your feed to know it was taking place.

Other outstanding offers are currently Toledo, Ball State, and Indiana State.

I was wondering this too. The below leads me to believe there is, especially since I'm not aware of a surplus sale after the basketball season ended. I wouldn't be against buying an 'Akron football' polo', however, I hope there is just general Zips gear that I can wear year round. I couldn't go last year as I was in Vegas for a bachelor party that weekend so maybe someone else can provide a clear response. "old game jerseys (including football)"

We are on page 16 of the Groce discussion. Like CK said I'm not sure what is left to talk about until we actually see stuff happen. This thread has the 9th most replies (and growing) on the entire basketball forum with the #1 being the coaching search thread, the #2 being the 4 year running Duquesne/Dambrot thread. There has been plenty of discussion. In fact, the basketball board has never been this active.

Jimond has the physical attributes. I'd say Antino is the more polished player currently, however, Ivey has the higher ceiling.

If we are going to have this ridiculous conversation can someone at least state what Antino's actual degree is in? Given the time committments required to be a D1 basketball player I highly doubt he is an engineer or a law student, both of which people are trying to use in this dick measuring contest.

I'm not going to judge Groce off of this years performance. If he puts us in a position to contend come March, he's a miracle worker.

I don't think anyone would disagree with that. Our goal every year should however be to win both.

Winning the MAC regular season and MACT means you are winning 16-17 games alone. It blows my mind that anyone wouldn't want to accomplish both. After all that is what Gonzaga has been doing for the past 20 years. Isn't that what we all want to see Akron become?

I don't know much about the guy, but from the little I have read he seems to have some pretty great credentials.

Call me selfish, but I want to win the MAC regular season title, the MAC tournament, and win 20+ games per year. If you do the 1st two, it's a 99.9% chance you'll accomplish the 3rd. Why do people feel we only have to pick one of the three?

Same with winning MAC regular season title and making NIT.
