One thing that is for certain is to have any chance of reaching that level and sustaining it we need to be better funded. Right now we have the 123 highest basketball budget, which is middle of the road. More people need to start buying tickets and actually showing up. The JAR isn't the greatest, but it's all we have for now.

What you are asking for is subjective and irrelevant as it is a coaches job to recruit. You tried stating his black mark was his lack of MACT success. His 27-10 MACT record and 3 MACT titles suggests otherwise. Those aren't cherry picked numbers. That's a measurement of the entire sample size.

Everyone wants more or at least I hope they do. It's why I said Dambrot's lack of a tourney win is a black mark. Keith Dambrot ended up with the best winning % of all-time in the MAC tournament. He put us in a position to have a chance pretty much every season. It's easy to cherry pick a stat to fit your narrative, but his real record in the MACT was 27-10 (.723). I'm sorry that's a damn good win %.

Edit: They are already using Groce 34-30 MAC record as ammunition against him despite his 3 tourney wins. Some people will always look for something to complain about.

The guys Dambrot was out recruiting were guys that were already on his radar from his time at Akron. Groce wasn't looking at undervalued 2* star and fringe 3* recruits in Illinois. He was looking at blue chip talent. It's going to take an adjustment period and he might need to hire an assistant or use an outside firm to help bring him up to speed on what JUCO and under recruited talent remains.

It's better to get there and lose than not get there at all like we had been doing for the prior 30+ years before Dambrot got here. I'm sorry I'm not buying your if you're not first, you're last mentality.

His only black mark was no NCAAT win. IDK how anyone can question his 3 tourney appearances when we only made 1 in our entire existence before Dambrot. I do agree people need to quit b******** about Groce and at least give the dude a chance. I'm going to be renewing my season tickets and I hope everyone else does too. Even a school like Dayton isn't above losing its coach to a bigger program. In today's world at the mid-major level if a coach stays in a place a long time it means he's doing enough to not get fired, but not enough for bigger programs to want him (look at WMU). What he had with Dambrot was the exception, not the rule. I hope Groce is at a (insert big name program here) in 5 years. That means he won at Akron and did his job.

C-USA has performed worse than the MAC in both football and basketball since the latest realignment. I'll pass on that.

Without Wichita State and Creighton the MVC is a shell of its former self. Even if we were to take football out of the equation, I'd personally rather stay in the MAC to preserve our rivalries with Kent and Ohio than move to a conference that is marginally better.

I'm actually more optimistic about Antino returning after listening to that WZIP interview.He wanted to make it known that he is still considering Akron.

I wanted to throw my laptop when that kid asked about the trivial 21 win per season streak. The only things I found useful out of listening to the entire press conference was hearing we have 1 assistant (Dustin Ford) while still searching for our others and hearing him say what type of ball we expect to see. All the other questions were either poor or the answers doctored to not really say a whole lot.

I'm not one to really speculate until I at least hear some rumblings. I've yet to hear anything. I imagine a lot of that has to do with the fact he's trying to acquaint with an entirely new pool of candidates. Any word on who will be on his staff?
