  1. Weather is why I feel Akron wins, but doesn't cover.
  2. I'd dress Ball, but not start him assuming he is capable of playing. That way he is there if you need him, but if the game is well in hand you give him another week to recover.
  3. This thread has flared up PTSD.
  4. I'm under the impression that the Mobile, Alabama bowl is the unofficial bowl game for the MAC champ. I see they have WMU slotted in it now which makes sense. I wouldn't place too much emphasis on bowl projections this time of year. It's too hard to tell which conferences will and won't be able to fill their bowl slots at the moment.
  5. I had a wedding to go to Saturday so I was only able to watch the 4th qtr via the watchespn app on my phone during that period after the ceremony but before the reception. You can watch the games live and they re-post them the next day so you can watch them on replay as well. http://www.espn.com/watchespn/index#search/akron/type/replay/
  6. I couldn't really find any sort of scouting report on him, but based off this video it looks like he's not only tall but also athletic. http://www.hudl.com/video/3/2403789/5721df504df6124b702e3b6c
  7. Someone correct me if I was wrong, but I believe last year it was 10/12 teams producing games. Wanting to say it was Akron and Kent that hadn't made the transition. If Akron made the transition that means Kent is the lone team left.
  8. Any decision the University made was going to be met with criticism. An article about how inept the University is a popular narrative at the moment and generates more paper sales and web clicks than just some lame article about some dude they never heard of getting hired for a position that probably doesn't impact their day to day life.
  9. Looks as though Akron men's team already has 8 televised games and will likely add a several more via flex scheduling. http://www.gozips.com/sports/mbkb/2016-17/releases/20161019nr12sk
  10. I feel had Houston run the table, they would have been a very serious contender to make the CFP. What's holding WMU back is their best win is over 4-3 Northwestern. If they finish the season 13-0, they should find themselves somewhere in the top 12 I'd guess.
  11. I felt Jabari Arthur was pretty great too. Maybe not quite at that level, but I felt play calling and not all that great QB play kind of limited him.
  12. At the media day press conference Dambrot said Akron can bring in solid mid-major teams like Middle Tennessee yet I don't see those teams on this years schedule...It should be noted that Radford and American are coming to Akron as part of the Savannah Invitational so I'll give them a a pass on those 2 games, however, I was disappointed they couldn't land themselves in a better early season tournament.
  13. I think another factor that is in play is that you are seeing fewer P5 programs scheduling FCS teams. Nebraska last season was 1 of the teams that went 5-7 and went to a bowl game. Their OOC schedule consisted of Miami, BYU and 2 G5 programs. They probably get to 6 wins had they scheduled 2 G5, 1 FCS and played Miami or BYU, not both. Padding OOC win totals with a weak OOC schedule use to be how teams approached scheduling. Now tv dollars and needing opportunities for quality wins to get into playoff contention has discouraged this.
  14. He said at media day that over the summer a Michigan assistant asked him if Akron completed its schedule, which he responded yes. Dambrot asked him about Michigan's and they said they had 1 buy game left to schedule. Dambrot said he offered to drop a game and let Michigan buy them. The Michigan assistant said he wasn't interested in buying Akron. I'm guessing this is when the scrimmage was scheduled.
  15. This must have been what Dambrot was alluding to yesterday when he said big name teams are willing to come to the JAR to scrimmage us, but they have no desire to play us in the regular season at home nor away
  16. I don't really find it odd. He's 58 and from the interviews that I've heard over the years he doesn't sound like a guy that wants to coach until he's 70. Realistically I see him coaching at Akron for maybe another 5-7 years. If Akron devised a plan to get a new arena, it would likely take 2-3 years to get everything finalized (assuming everything goes smoothly) and for the arena to built. Currently after the failed attempt at getting the city to fund it via taxes, the talks have been tabled. At best a new arena would happen as Dambrot has 1 foot out the door and Dambrot realizes that. Dambrot is a local guy who went and played sports at Akron. He invested a great deal of his time and effort into the Akron basketball program. He wants to see it succeed even if he isn't the one at the helm.
  17. A new arena would definitely be nice, but I just don't see it happening anytime soon. The University is operating at a deficit, city taxpayers clearly made it known that they have no interest in funding it via taxes, and no way the state funds it.
  18. I agree there is a very high probability that the final week of the season will decide the MAC East. The only scenario that I can see that it wouldn't be the case is if Akron or OU goes 1-2 vs. the MAC West and beats BGSU, UB, Kent, and Miami, meanwhile, the other goes 0-3 vs. the MAC West and slips up against one of the previously mentioned MAC East opponents.
  19. These polls are becoming increasingly more challenging when we aren't sure who is lining up at QB on a week to week basis.
  20. Give me a few weeks of feasting on MAC East cupcakes to raise my spirits. Saturday felt like a swift kick in the balls. I need time to recover.
  21. Given that a** kicking we just received at home, the last thing I want to think about is facing WMU for a 2nd time.
  22. I could have sworn I heard on the radio from Dustin Fox that OSU has families sponser players and those families help fund the players scholarship by giving OSU money to offset the costs. Dustin said he would have dinner every so often at the families house and grew close to them over the years. I don't think what is proposed is a violation, however, giving boosters easy access to players opens the door for potential violations to be made.
  23. Yes, I've seen LeBron at several Zips games over the years. His relationship with Dambrot is why Akron is one of like 3-4 schools that supports the LBJ brand for basketball. I think over the years he's even practiced with the Zips a few times. On a semi related note I remember 5-6 years ago I was going to the rec center and saw Kosta Koufos check in to meet up and practice with some of the Zips players. I'm not certain what connection he would have had to the Zips program other then his hometown being 20 minutes away, but I wouldn't be surprised whatsoever if LeBron put him in contact with Dambrot so he would have a place to train when he is back home visiting family in the offseason.
  24. Does a bruised shoulder typically take this long to heal or is there potentially a more significant injury we are not aware of? Just seems strange for Woodson to miss so much time when he apparently he was close enough to be healthy vs. Kent to be game time decision. Not that I'm questioning the medical staff or Woodson desire to play. Just confused about this situation.
  25. There were like a dozen schools they interviewed. There was only a handful of serious contenders and none of those teams you mentioned were realistically getting in.
