  1. Looks like we got another national TV game as I expected.
  2. It looks like Akron is opening as an 8.5 point favorite.
  3. Hopefully with it being homecoming and all, we pull a good crowd.
  4. By special I meant 10+ win team that receives some national recognition a la WMU. Potentially getting another 8 win season, which won't be an easy task, is great for Akron standards (which are incredible low) but I still wonder what could have been. The MAC West probable has the 3 best teams in the MAC this season. If we had last years defense to go with this years offense, I'm confident that we would be as good, if not better, than WMU and UT. Edit: Winning games close isn't what concerns me. Our defense getting shredded week after week while showing no signs of improvement is my concern. What does it matter if we make it out of perhaps the weakest division in all of FBS if we go to Detroit just to get run out of the stadium?
  5. I'm beginning to lose faith that this defense will ever turn their season around. It's a shame because if we had last years defense with this years offense, we could be having a very special season.
  6. Looks like we have 0 winners this week due to Woodson not playing. Sneaky question Dr Z
  7. Any news on Woodson's injury?
  8. Run it in. Please do not throw.
  9. The whole field is open.
  10. If this defense gives up a 97 yard to drive...
  11. Jojo finally got a chance for a return.
  12. Don't like running on 3rd and 6
  13. I had faith in Chapman all along
  14. Hopefully the D can force a turnover or get a quick 3 and out to set our offense up for good field position. I don't have faith in Chapman's ability to sustain long drives.
  15. Thank god. No way can Chapman start the 2nd half.
  16. More turnovers than completions. This is ridiculous. Put in Kato.
  17. They have to pull Chapman. If the lose this game, they still have games vs. UT, WMU, Ball State, and OU. There is a legitimate chance of them missing a bowl game if they don't win today.
  18. I just bought my season tickets for basketball online. They are general admission seating and I must say it was a much more difficult process than it needed to be. I had to click the section I wanted (very reasonable) then had to zoom in and find an "empty seat" to select (it's GA really). I tried clicking repeatedly at 1st and nothing would take. I almost gave up before realizing I had to zoom in. I get the pick the seat feature and it is definitely nice to have particularly for premium seating, but they should also have a generic pick your section and how many seats you want. Edit: I would have caught on quicker had I realized I needed to zoom in 1st.
  19. I'd say so. With a win Louisville has a 94% chance of making the postseason. That number falls to 51% with a loss.
  20. I went to a Stark county school where high school football is a pretty big deal (apparently we take it a bit too serious as we are in the process of getting booted out of a conference we started because the other schools say we're too good and they don't want to compete with us) and can confirm what Skip-Zip said. There was nothing unique the student body did that made people show up. It was viewed as the "cool thing to do" on a Friday night because that's what everyone did for generations. Students that aren't even football fans will go to OSU games because it is something that is perceived as a cool thing to do and they can send snapchats, post crap on facebook, and instagram with captions like #gobucks and will receive dozen of likes.
  21. Don't tell that to NIU fans. According to their fans they were legit contenders for Big 12 because they had the Chicago market. Miami (Oh) and Cincy are about 45 minutes apart. That's like Cleveland to Akron.
  22. I don't see us picking up any grad transfer QBs as Woodson kind of has a stranglehold on the QB position, but getting a incoming Sophomore or even an incoming Junior that has to sit out a year anyways could make a lot of sense. Akron currently has 3 jr on the roster at QB, 1 senior, and 1 freshman. 4 of those 5 QBs will be gone at the end of next season. Anyone that transferred into Akron would be competing straight up with Kato for the starting job in 2018. Akron has kind of transformed itself into being a vertical passing team that should have some nice offensive weapons in 2018. It could be an attractive destination for a talented player wanting to make a name for himself but is playing behind an elite QB.
  23. I misread the first question. I thought it said how many points with the Zips score. Reading it again I would have went. 1) 8-19 2) 260-350 3) 2 or 3
  24. I agree with Balsy these songs aren't mainstream enough. Even if people knew the "My City is Gone" why would you want your song to be about everything you like about Akron leaving?
  25. I read somewhere that we have 27 transfers on the roster. It appears to be 1 too few.
