  1. That's so cool, thank you for sharing that!!!! Yeah, I'm crying. "Five players on the floor...no more important than the other." Norman Dale. And...Michael Reghi "Spottsville missed them both!"
  2. Maybe not most exciting entire game but probably most exciting and improbable final minute.
  3. Sayles set the screen of a lifetime at the end of the Eastern Michigan game. He's a popular teammate
  4. I wonder if a few...maybe Ali or Sayles...will transfer. There's also the Edwards kid. I read that all these guys and gals getting another year could enter the transfer portal. I would hope that there would be a restriction that you have to stay with the same school. I'm sure the university could raise more $ for scholarships from donors. I think this ban on recruiting until 4/15 is giving the NCAA a chance to figure out what they are going to do...have a tournament (good for Zips) or give seniors another year (also good for Zips). German, for all his lack of prose, did make a good point...the NCAA screwed over the athletes. Giving the seniors on the NIU gymnastics team another year of eligibility doesn't stem the damage done to the basketball players. Does the NCAA chalk this up to ... life isn't always fair? or make amends?
  5. https://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa-tournaments-championships-college-athletes-seniors-eligibility-year-petition-092848893.html
  6. Mark Montgomery is looking at 5 or 6 wins in the MAC next year without him.
  7. I stand with German. But since they already awarded the trophy to Akron... And in alternate reality, we would be 10 minutes from tip off against the Snow Mutts.
  8. i don't think they were getting much floor time. Next year crushing Toledo should be at the top of LCJ and The Zips "To Do" List.
  9. Maybe a mid major and auto bid tourney and another for the power conferences.
  10. https://www.syracuse.com/orangelacrosse/2020/03/ncaa-plans-to-give-spring-athletes-another-year-of-eligibility.html I say only give an additional year to those who were going to play in the Tourney.
  11. And appears Kittens have feelings, too. Those poor kids and their families. I will probably always think cancelling these tournaments was extreme, but we won't know for a few weeks whether or not it was the right choice.
  12. Do the Zips get the MAC Championship trophy?
  13. "Spottsville missed them both!"
  14. Let's not go there. And dancing is never a guarantee unless you are with one of the elite few. Think about Utomi. He was so close. If anything, these situations make you want to stay with what is certain.
  15. one of the reasons they cancelled everything. They need to figure this all out (but not behind closed doors) while all of this plays out.
  16. well, if this occurs @Illini Zip will need to do some heavy lifting on the scholarship chart. And Zipsnation will have a lot of fun with predicting line-ups. Don't forget to go to my thread and post your favorite moment from the season. If you can find a video clip of it or a pic of the player, even better.
  17. I don't think it would be as many as we would think. After the pain, anger, and frustration wears off, most may be ready to move on with their lives. But for those basketball players planning on playing in Europe...another year of school may be the best option financially. A coach or university would probably have a power to reject the concept. I think for Tyler and Channel this would be perfect.
  18. Probably not. All of our wishful thinking these last few days has been stamped down and crushed so far.
  19. OMG. I just texted that idea to someone. I had no idea they were considering it. I guess the problem would be for the kids behind them waiting to come on to the team and the recruits coming in.
  20. As we mourn the abrupt end of the season, I thought we could share our favorite memories from this season. Favorite player? Favorite play? Best game? Best moment? Best shot? The Eastern Michigan game and the sequence of LCJ's flop, X's 3, and Channel's stop at the JAR stands out in my mind.
  21. There is no good way to spin the disappointment for athletes, students, and fans across the country. For the Zips, they had an amazing end to the season and won their last two games against their biggest rivals in exciting fashion on national TV in front of a big crowd and a sell out crowd. I hope the school will eventually put a highlight reel together, have a big party, and present the MAC Championship trophy to the Zips and honor Groce, LCJ, and the seniors. I keep thinking of the scene at the end of Hoosiers where the camera pans away from the photo of Norman Dale and his championship team.
  22. Awful. Words can't express.
  23. Person #5 with COVID is a man from Stark County. Again, doesn't mean he is going to die or even get seriously ill but if he passed it to someone who has underlying health conditions then there's a serious problem.
  24. Those final two games against Ohio and PCCC will be a lasting memory for this team #119. So happy the guys got to cut down the nets and celebrate and had a sold out arena for their final game for the Zips. Incredibly sad.
  25. Probably because of what happened in Italy. this is changing so rapidly and there's a lot of misinformation coming from other countries as well as the federal govt. https://odh.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/odh/know-our-programs/Novel-Coronavirus/2019-nCoV I would suggest following the stats on this website. There were 3 cases a few days ago now there are 5. If those numbers flatten out, then life can move forward.
