Whatever the case, I hope this clears up and by the end of the school year they have a big party at the JAR for Coach Groce, LCJ, and the seniors.
Think about all the players we know playing in Europe. They may be stranded and have no income coming in.
Ugh. This is just horrible. I guess the NCAA can still have a tournament. Wait two weeks and bring all the conference champions to one city. For teams like Dayton, it has to be heartbreaking. Zips were in good spot to win this tournament but realistically their season was going to be over in a week.
@clarkwgriswold maybe this thing will be held at the JAR after all.
Haven't they been practicing there and the women already started their tournament.
On another note, the JAZZ player who has it thought it was a joke and before a press conference went around and touched every microphone and items on the table they were using. Then he gets it.
Look...i'm not in charge. I hope they don't. But it's not as simple as all that. The coaches and other staff could be over 60. It's a ripple effect. I hope they move to smaller venues and make it as much fun for the athletes as they can. I mean what a true test of basketball. The blue blood teams won't have all the built in advantages that they usually get. Imagine a MAC school getting to play an ACC team on an absolutely neutral court with no fans. Go Zips tomorrow!
I don't know how they keep this going. IThese players have to be worried about other things besides the game. What a tragic turn of events for all of them.
He's awesome no matter what happens tomorrow. My hope was this year was some road wins and a trip to the Semis. One more win away from that. I think this teams cohesiveness will help them tomorrow with all the outside craziness. I like that he chose character over raw talent when needed. The Gueye/Kostelac dust up is still a mystery
The first victim of an empty arena: #1 seed Central Michigan women and the women's coach of the year.
Not boding well for tomorrow. These games have to feel like a scrimmage.
Right. What's that phrase... "cognitive dissonance?" I was willing to go to the games, but I wasn't willing to go to the crowded pre-party at Pizza 216.
More road kill for the Zips.
Spoke to a friend who is a critical care doctor at Cleveland Clinic. She says they are in meetings every day about it and that this is highly contagious/infectious. Also, it could develop into a more dangerous strain.
So I think this will fall into the life isn't always fair category.
Yeah. Unfortunate turn of events but I'm sure it wasn't done lightly. Just venting. And this clears things for the players, they can play without worry. We are spoiled here because we have such easy access to the Arena. But it absolutely sucks and any of us would hate ourselves if we brought it home to an elderly loved one.
