  1. Let's not go there. And dancing is never a guarantee unless you are with one of the elite few. Think about Utomi. He was so close. If anything, these situations make you want to stay with what is certain.
  2. one of the reasons they cancelled everything. They need to figure this all out (but not behind closed doors) while all of this plays out.
  3. well, if this occurs @Illini Zip will need to do some heavy lifting on the scholarship chart. And Zipsnation will have a lot of fun with predicting line-ups. Don't forget to go to my thread and post your favorite moment from the season. If you can find a video clip of it or a pic of the player, even better.
  4. I don't think it would be as many as we would think. After the pain, anger, and frustration wears off, most may be ready to move on with their lives. But for those basketball players planning on playing in Europe...another year of school may be the best option financially. A coach or university would probably have a power to reject the concept. I think for Tyler and Channel this would be perfect.
  5. Probably not. All of our wishful thinking these last few days has been stamped down and crushed so far.
  6. OMG. I just texted that idea to someone. I had no idea they were considering it. I guess the problem would be for the kids behind them waiting to come on to the team and the recruits coming in.
  7. As we mourn the abrupt end of the season, I thought we could share our favorite memories from this season. Favorite player? Favorite play? Best game? Best moment? Best shot? The Eastern Michigan game and the sequence of LCJ's flop, X's 3, and Channel's stop at the JAR stands out in my mind.
  8. There is no good way to spin the disappointment for athletes, students, and fans across the country. For the Zips, they had an amazing end to the season and won their last two games against their biggest rivals in exciting fashion on national TV in front of a big crowd and a sell out crowd. I hope the school will eventually put a highlight reel together, have a big party, and present the MAC Championship trophy to the Zips and honor Groce, LCJ, and the seniors. I keep thinking of the scene at the end of Hoosiers where the camera pans away from the photo of Norman Dale and his championship team.
  9. Awful. Words can't express.
  10. Person #5 with COVID is a man from Stark County. Again, doesn't mean he is going to die or even get seriously ill but if he passed it to someone who has underlying health conditions then there's a serious problem.
  11. Those final two games against Ohio and PCCC will be a lasting memory for this team #119. So happy the guys got to cut down the nets and celebrate and had a sold out arena for their final game for the Zips. Incredibly sad.
  12. Probably because of what happened in Italy. this is changing so rapidly and there's a lot of misinformation coming from other countries as well as the federal govt. https://odh.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/odh/know-our-programs/Novel-Coronavirus/2019-nCoV I would suggest following the stats on this website. There were 3 cases a few days ago now there are 5. If those numbers flatten out, then life can move forward.
  13. BTW. Thank you Blowing Green!
  14. Whatever the case, I hope this clears up and by the end of the school year they have a big party at the JAR for Coach Groce, LCJ, and the seniors. Think about all the players we know playing in Europe. They may be stranded and have no income coming in.
  15. I wouldn't be so sure. They could easily cancel all of March Silent Madness.
  16. just heard. It's cancelled.
  17. Ugh. This is just horrible. I guess the NCAA can still have a tournament. Wait two weeks and bring all the conference champions to one city. For teams like Dayton, it has to be heartbreaking. Zips were in good spot to win this tournament but realistically their season was going to be over in a week.
  18. Give the bid to the Zips
  19. Be hard. Recruiting season. Schools making coaching changes. School work and practices.
  20. need to paint on some 3 point lines I guess.
  21. @clarkwgriswold maybe this thing will be held at the JAR after all. Haven't they been practicing there and the women already started their tournament. On another note, the JAZZ player who has it thought it was a joke and before a press conference went around and touched every microphone and items on the table they were using. Then he gets it.
  22. This first game is the toughest test. Roll in this one...and on their way to...who knows.
  23. Look...i'm not in charge. I hope they don't. But it's not as simple as all that. The coaches and other staff could be over 60. It's a ripple effect. I hope they move to smaller venues and make it as much fun for the athletes as they can. I mean what a true test of basketball. The blue blood teams won't have all the built in advantages that they usually get. Imagine a MAC school getting to play an ACC team on an absolutely neutral court with no fans. Go Zips tomorrow!
  24. I don't know how they keep this going. IThese players have to be worried about other things besides the game. What a tragic turn of events for all of them.
  25. Groce was never coach of year at Ohio. Looking at the list of COYs from the MAC, it's quite a rogue's gallery...Hipsher included.
