  1. Key to this game:. Score the most points
  2. No, we didn't forget. Someone said on Twitter that Cotton is Groce's next DJ Cooper.
  3. Even though EMU and Murphy always choke in Cleveland, they were still my pick to win in Cleveland. Not sure we are a good match with any of the top 4, but it's March and we are at the Q where the Zips should be.
  4. Groce wins when it matters. We may not win on Thursday, but he and his team got us into the arena. These freshmen get to play in the Q. Also, so cool to see the non-playing guys so happy and enjoying themselves: Sayles especially. And very cool for the senior band members, cheerleaders, and dance team. They get one more game as well. Someone said we are playing with house $ now. So true.
  5. Looking at Bobcat Attack is sort of like "shame eating" for me. Here's a good thread: https://www.bobcatattack.com/messageboard/topic.asp?FromPage=1&ForumPID=1&PID=256752
  6. The worst thing about this is having to rely on the ticket office to organize all of this on short notice. Travel Zoo did well by me last year. Clark will be getting free tickets at the Verizon store in Macedonia.
  7. BTW. PCCC @ Ravenna won again tonight by sending one of their players all the way down the floor for a lay up with time expiring. They have won multiple games that way including over BG a week or so ago where they called the BG player for a foul after minor contact. On Friday night, they would have done the same thing had Groce not called that time out and set up the defense.
  8. My personal goal was for the team to get to Cleveland. Lowest seed up there and history repeated itself for Groce.
  9. I'm watching the end. How in world did it go from 77-70 to 78-78. And still win. Omg...a bank shot even.
  10. Parrish and Cotton...Zip Heroes!
  11. Long live John Groce. The man knows how to win in March. Unlike that coach in Athens.
  12. Word. Time to pack it up and start over.
  13. Whatever happens tonight the season certainly hasn't been boring. The Zips won't see a record like this again for a long time. Now go get us a game at the Q.
  14. 2009. BG, Buffalo, Ball State, Miami were top 4 seeds. However, the caveat is that Ball State as the MAC West champion received the #2 seed even though their record would have tied them for last in the East Division. Those were really the best years when all the teams got to go to Cleveland and maybe you would get lucky and get on the easy side of the bracket.
  15. Illini I appreciate your confidence and concern about tonight. I think tonight is definitely our best chance to win a game considering we would have Eastern Michigan in the quarter-final. EMU owes us a colossal beat down after years our knocking them off in the MAC tourney. And their big guy James Thompson would bury K-Lac. Example #1: (Oh, and if you look closely, you can maybe see 5 or 6 EMU fans. And, no the band and cheerleaders don't count.)
  16. Totally OT but someone on here must know the answer. A colleague of mine is a former MAC football player. He says that even for home games the team stayed in a hotel the night before the game. I said I didn't think Akron wouldn't do that because of cost. What is the answer?
  17. 2011 was a crazy MAC year. Kittens and Akron are both 9-7 and get first round games. Miami has losing overall record and gets 3 seed. We beat them in that marathon game in which everyone fouled out. Then Ohio who has almost everyone back from the championship season except Bassett loses in OT to Ball State. That must have sent Groce into a tailspin. Then he comes back with vengeance next year. We beat #1 seed Kent in the final in OT. Kent makes a run in the NIT. Geno Ford bails on Kent. Gets the million $ contract from Bradley. Kent sues Ford and wins. Bradley fires Ford a few years later. Fateful year.
  18. I'm going to chalk up this inane discussion to the fact that we all have nervous energy as we await tonight's game. Clark is packing his tent, cooler and overnight bag.
  19. Generally, I'm in favor of recruiting.
  20. I think Toledo continues its NCAA drought. Doesn't it go back to 1980?
  21. https://www.ohio.com/akron/sports/university-of-akron/university-of-akron-basketball-win-over-rival-flashes-in-regular-season-finale-buoys-zips-for-mac-tournament-opener Thomas Wilder reminds me a bit of DJ Cooper in the 2013 championship game or Jerron Simmons when he blew the final possession versus Kent in the semis last year. Wilder wanted to be a pro this year. I think our guys are hungry for this win tomorrow and Wilder is ready to bolt K'Zoo... so says NWAkron. And does someone want to tell GT we are the 11th seed not the 10th!
  22. Give peace a chance.
  23. I'm not familiar with Dean Wormer. Is he new with the Wilson administration? Why would a Dean speak to one of the athletes about his attitude? Is he the guy leaving the polymer department?
  24. Round 1 BG over CMU OU over Miami Akron over WMU Kent over NIU Round 2 Buffalo over BG Ball State over Kent Toledo over Ohio Eastern over Akron SEMIS Eastern over Toledo Buffalo over Ball State FINAL Eastern over Buffalo James Thompson MVP
