Big game tomorrow night!!

Players who transferred from last year, Where are they now?
NWAkron replied to 1981 grad's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Right. He's not a Zip. Irrelevant. Like the former coach. -
To get your mind off of that debacle, take a look at this. If Ball State can hold off Kent, there is a decent scenario for Cleveland, if Zips hold serve at home: http://bball.notnothing.net/mac.php?sport=mbb

Even the FTs are way off. Start the bus and get back on the turnpike. It's like the Bradley game. Burn the tape.
-
Who will win by more? Buffalo or Toledo? Miami looking to make it to Cleveland.

MAC West Champs! The women's team I think has won quite a lot of championships
-
SAT question: Bowling Green is to Akron as Akron is to ________________________.
-
watched some of Kent/Ball State game. Kent is really good at finishing off Carry's many, many missed shots. His shots, when they miss, always seem to bounce one extra time, giving his teammate a chance to grab it or tip it in.
-
Before I looked at score, I said to myself..."Zips down by 13." I've been around this team way too long.

Fire him on the way back? Fire her in the delivery room? she knew this was likely her last year.

AkronMBB does a lot of instagram for the players. they are really showcased. what a great photo of Tavari.

It's Alabama...remember. Nate Oats is scum. Maybe he could have offered condolences and regret to the victim's family: Nate Oats on his best player bringing a gun to another one of his players and resulting in a murder: “We knew about that. Can’t control everything anybody does outside of practice. Nobody knew that was going to happen. College kids are out, Brandon hasn’t been in any type of trouble nor is he in any type of trouble in this case. Wrong spot at the wrong time.”
-
I think the quote from Oats was that it wasn't a big deal and he can't control his players off the court. Oats always showed us what he was.

Once Akron got behind, it was clear the refs were "respecting" the Rockets more in that game.

Hopefully, this is a cautionary tale for others. -
Big Game tomorrow night! And the Toledo board members agree. Don't disagree too much with the assessment. Post: #4 RE: Big game coming up - Akron at Toledo UT really neutralized Freeman last game by forcing him to switch onto guards on ball screens and then isolating him 1 on 1. Akron may run double teams at us this time to avoid a repeat. Castenada is a streaky guy who has a step back jumper no one can stop-when he's on you hjave to play him extremely tight and he's good at drawing fouls. UT gave akron's guys the mid range all day last time. They clunked most of em or passed them up. Akron's weakness is limited shooters, so if you can keep freeman under control and castenada isn't on fire, they struggle. Hankerson had a great night against us and it still wasn't close. as others noted they make this up for the lack of shooting on the boards. so, hustle and rebounding are huge. being at home might help with the refs. make this a clean spread out fast game. we are better than them at that.
-
an advantage freeman may have here is that he is listed at the top of the page. He may get some quick votes from people who aren't interested in his category. That's how I ended up for Detroit's Davis.

Like you, i don't like rehashing the past or comparing coaches. God knows, this board still lives with the ghost of MBB, although, I think that ABJ article this week should finally close that door. Are you speaking of the volleyball program when you discuss the contract extension? I would hope that 95% of folks on her are more Pro-Akron U than Pro-Specific Coach. Although, we learned when Dambrot left that a good chunk of the fan base didn't give a flying eff about Zips basketball. They were here for him and left with him along with their seats in the lower bowl. Shameful conduct. Sooo I hope that even though many were fond of M Jackson and her accomplishments they will quickly get on board with the next coach. Guthrie is selling products. Volleyball could be an attractive and exciting product more so than WBB.

As they say on Bobcat Attack...T.O.S.

you can play around with the seedings here: http://bball.notnothing.net/mac.php?sport=mbb wondering if Travis and the Redhawks will sneak in.

Big Game tomorrow night.😀

The Kest team that won the MAC title was awesome. They were like 92% from the FT line. Good point on the pay check: so Jackson would have coached better if she were paid more? We are all very fortunate to have this forum that allows Zips fans to vent frustrations, share insight, and discuss these issues. BTW...the discussion around the women's program is much more constructive than the vitriol circa 2017 (and that wasn't a firing).
-
No way to run a railroad. I prefer how they handled it with the men's program: hire the man who crushed your dreams...twice!
-
We are probably giving way too much air time to what is often called an "internet troll." But whoever it is certainly provoked conversation and helped crystallize amongst us why this staff is a failure. Jackson lost me with the coaching in stilettos.
-
One could argue that it was the Larry Williams administration that say women's basketball as a distraction and thus let Kest linger, didn't make an effort to find a new coach, and settled for Kest's assistant.
